Great post @PeterFuda. Reminds me of a quote I noted from two time Olympics gold medal winning hockey coach Richard Charlesworth AO last month. "I have rarely met a player that realized how good they could be." It struck me that even when at the top…lnkd.in/gf8XYwhh

The most valuable voice in a meeting isn’t the person who talks the most. It’s the person who says the most with the fewest words. Dominating the discussion signals high self-importance or low self-awareness. Making space for others to contribute shows respect and earns respect.

Back-to-back meetings drain our brains. We need downtime in between to recover. New research: even 10-minute breaks between meetings are enough to reduce stress, improve focus, and boost engagement. Instead of defaulting to 30/60min meetings, we should schedule 20/50min blocks.

ON THE IMPACT OF LEADERS – “For better or worse, your leadership creates your culture in every action, and every interaction, every day.” For leadership team reflection when assessing the past year and planning forward. From @PeterFuda. bit.ly/3VZ3YJJ

A really important message about reflection and being proactive rather than immediately reacting, particularly when we feel under pressure, something we need to do more of in the public sector
We confuse motion with momentum. Are each of your current priorities game-changers? If not, could you replace any of these priorities with something more impactful?

The people who are nice to you aren’t always being kind to you. Saying what you want to hear is nice. People sugarcoat feedback to make you feel good today. Sharing what you need to hear is kind. People speak honestly to help you do better tomorrow. Candor is an act of care.

Choose to break through!
When emotions are running high it’s because people care deeply. If you can harness that energy, rather than avoid or suppress it, you have an opportunity to breakthrough.

It’s very difficult to be purposeful and fearful at the same time. The more you focus on serving others, the more confident you will feel and the more positive your impact will be.

@PeterFuda I have written this quote on my Conf room whiteboard “Activity counts, Productivity matters! “

+ Three things to lead through chaos via @PeterFuda: - Success is not a matter of intention, it’s a matter of impact - Organisations don’t change, people do & leaders must go first - Small changes can have an exponential impact #QSPA22

It isn't failure that holds you back. It's the emotional baggage you carry afterward. Self-doubt, regret, disappointment, and embarrassment are instruction manuals for learning. The goal isn't to dwell on what went wrong yesterday. It's to discover what you can do better today.

In toxic cultures, people get promoted for results even if they destroy relationships. Abuse is a price to pay for high performance. In healthy cultures, no level of individual excellence justifies undermining people. You’re not a high performer if you don't elevate others.
