This was the scene over Lake Ontario today. Caught by my drone.
I looked it up and apparently this is a classic example of Great Lakes induced weather. The lakes cook their own weather systems.
If you look carefully you'll see there's rain or snow showers coming down over the lake. The warm lake water is creating this effect when it collides with cold air above.
