I principally agree with Smuts AJA that we need to have a serious conversation about the quality of the output from the JTC. Having taught both law and vocational training myself over the years, I have seen some of the challenges first-hand. The number of students admitted to the programme is simply too high to allow for the quality and intensity of teaching and learning that proper vocational legal training requires. The problem is compounded by the fact that many students have no meaningful attachment to law firms or other legal institutions where they can acquire practical experience. Namibia has a relatively small legal profession, with a limited number of firms able to accommodate the number of students requiring vocational training. I do not pretend to have the solution. But I believe the profession must converge and honestly examine the quality and structure of legal education and vocational training, from the LLB through to the JTC and practical training, and consider whether structural reform is required. This should not be a conversation for the JTC or universities alone. The Bench, the Bar, the Law Society, law faculties, Government, students and the wider profession all have something to contribute. The objective should not be to make entry into the profession unnecessarily difficult, but to ensure that those who enter it receive the quality of education, training and practical exposure necessary to serve the public and the administration of justice.
Acting Supreme Court judge Dave Smuts and legal stakeholders have warned that Namibia’s Justice Training Centre (JIC) is failing to prepare graduates for practical court work. namibian.com.na/namibia-prod…

Ive been thinking and what is happening at NYC is truly sad. Having been at the forefront of the initial litigation & having genuinely tried to assist in finding a way forward, up until the point we reached a settlement agreement, it is heartbreaking to see that we are here again

As the saying goes, when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers and sadly, that grass is the youth, whose development, education and future continue to bear the cost of these ongoing disputes.

I understand, it is in the fabric of most Nigerians to scam. This tweet is the precursor, a gambit to engage and lure you in . Be careful, you will eventually be sent a link to click, whatever you do. Don’t do it.

Matthew McConaughey walked away from $14.5M to kill his "rom-com guy" image. He almost quit acting to become a teacher. The gamble paid off: his refusal to settle paved the way for True Detective, Interstellar, Dallas Buyers Club, and an Oscar.

I get having a spam account to vibe with your day ones. But a catfish account built to monitor, obsess over, insult, bash, and demean people? One is normal, the other needs healing. That’s insecurity with Wifi, self-esteem issues hiding behind a fake username.

So a non-village boy (me) is about to be the only man at the village, together with my lil bro, a man so suburban he makes me look rural. The boys went to the coast for holiday. Tell ne : who exactly is killing and skinning the Christmas goat?🤣🤣.

Wambo wedding story: 10 people at church for the marriage blessings. 100 people at the reception fighting to enter. I feel like if you can’t make it to church, maybe don’t make the reception also.

I used to burn through 2–3 SuperAweh bundles every week, about two weeks ago my partner convinced me to switch to Awehyodatal, and now I’m actually ending the second week with over 3 GB data to spare. Maybe this package is genuinely better.
