Stooping over posture in the ageing population, in some people, is associated with increased back pain, increased risk of falls and increased transition to dependant care. The following video gives insight into some of the biomechanics associated with these postures.

Some spine postures are associated with back pain, the question is which posture in which patients. I enjoyed presenting research on measuring stooping spine posture at Spineweek2023. X-rays are not always needed but sometimes they are. Shouting to either extreme is disingenuous

If you think posture doesn't matter.. SVA beyond 100mm is associated with 16x greater risk of falls related fracture. What is SVA? What is x-ray pelvic tilt? What is pelvic incidence- lumbar lordosis mismatch? Asked a bunch of physical therapists who are...(complete sentence)
