Practical Patellofemoral Pain Management:
- There is No Single Best Treatment for Patellofemoral Pain.
- Those with higher body mass, longer symptom duration, and older age predict poorer treatment outcomes.
- A key mechanism for pain reduction and functional improvements is increased hip and knee muscle strength.
- Those with lower baseline knee extensor strength may see greater short-term improvements with knee-focused rehab.
- Shorter individuals may respond better to hip-targeted exercise due to biomechanical factors.
- A tailored rehab and training approach is best to maximize prognosis and clinical outcomes.
