NEW for @TheAthletic,
Gavin McKenna, Alexis Lafreniere, Guy Lafleur… the age old debate about ice time for young phenoms in their rookie year. It’s a delicate balance, but it’s hardly unprecedented.

“No, I see stuff like that, ‘If Larks come, I sign the next day.'"
I asked Quinn Hughes regarding the speculation of Dylan Larkin's destination impacting him, on Hellebuyck, etc and what makes this next move such a hard/important decision for him #mnwild

C'est fait, les Devils ont fait l'acquisition de Connor Hellebuyck.
Selon @PierreVLeBrun, c'est peut-être le début d'une grande onde de choc.

Devils and Jets are close to a Connor Hellebuyck trade but still some important details to iron out. Both teams continue to work on it.
Many thanks to Scotty Bowman and Gerard Gallant for lending their insight for this piece ⤵️

Okay, twist in the plot. Connor Hellebuyck trade talks are escalating it could go down today. Busy day developing. Stay tuned.
There’s a sense there could be an agreement between the Jets and Hellebuyck to delay his physical until a later date out of respect to the Heritage classic. This weekend is about the game. Meanwhile, the focus to trade the star goalie remains. More coming up on @SportsCentre

Quinn Hughes was a lot of things in Vancouver.
Captain. Norris winner. Franchise d-man.
“A great Canuck,” Brock Boeser says
But how will he be received in return with #mnwild ?
“He’ll be the villain.”

As I previously reported, Hockey Canada is expected to announce the next GM of Team Canada in January. Doug Armstrong stepped down in March. The plan is for Hockey Canada executive Scott Salmond to meet with GM candidates in and around the Nov. 10 GMs meeting in Toronto to pick their brain on it. Those candidates include the likes of Jim Nill, Kyle Dubas, Julien BriseBois and Don Sweeney, who were all part of Armstrong’s Olympic management team.
The World Cup of Hockey is just over 15 months away. I asked Mike Sullivan this morning if he would be interested in coaching Team USA again and he didn't hesitate in saying yes, he would be honored to do so if asked. GM Bill Guerin is also interested in reprising his role if called upon.

Owen Power has been great to start the season for the Sabres. He’s also playing with a lot on his mind. I spoke to Power about his relationship with Matthew Mayich and how much he’s thinking of him every time he steps on the ice. Free to read:
