Over-whelmed that "I am the joy" was chosen as one of the winning poems. Loved dancing with @SouthpawCompany too. Thanks so much @Pinwheelltd
Before Christmas, we selected the winners for our #PowerOfPoetry prize draw.
Here's a selection of the poems that caught our eye.

There was a winger named Addo-Carr,
Whose team came from afar,
On the wing he rocks,
we acquired his socks,
And he was the tournament star.

We visited the #PowerOfPoetry installation in Saltwell Park today in connection with our Writing Together programme with schools and families across Gateshead! The poems are by @JackieKayPoet and @ZaffarKunial with Robert Montgomery. A beautiful way to light up the park!🌟
ALT We are the microphone, we are the lungs, our bodies are different, our song is the same, a try is a try, come in come on. All of us can play at this game.
ALT Come in, come on, here is an open welcome, we are the wind we are the hope. We come in from the outside. Together, apart, locked in song.

I wrote a poem for the Rugby League World Cup 2021 Power of Poetry #PowerOfPoetry #RLWC21
I am the joy, the light, the sound -
The rush of wind - the crowd around.
I am the heartbeat of the game
One ball, two teams.
All winners just the same.

Walking to the ground and we’re all supporting different teams but that doesn’t matter because this is rugby league. What matters is us all here in the now, days out together making memories.
