Nintendo Switch 2 has been partially hacked, but it’s not a full jailbreak yet. A researcher has found a userland exploit that works on both Switch and Switch 2, without needing WebKit, modified save files, or an internet connection. This does NOT mean Switch 2 can run custom firmware or pirated games. The exploit only provides code execution inside an app’s sandbox.

CAPCOM has confirmed a major data breach affecting more than 11.7 million CAPCOM ID accounts worldwide. The leaked data includes: -Email addresses -IP addresses -Account activity -Account creation and login information In 43 cases, additional personal details were exposed, including dates of birth, gender, country/region and nicknames. CAPCOM also found that 196 accounts had their passwords changed by someone else. The good news is that CAPCOM says passwords themselves were not leaked, and no credit card information was affected.

Tim Pan and the MediaStorm team put the iPhone Duo through a brutal durability test. He manually folded it 500 times, then used a machine for another 10,000 folds at room temperature, followed by 1,000 more folds at -20°C. After 11,000 folds, the hinge was still smooth and the opening assistance felt essentially unchanged from day one. The screen crease became noticeably deeper after the repeated folding, although the team said this was within their expectations. They also performed a reverse-fold strength test, with the force gauge reaching 37.8 kgf, or around 371 newtons.

The US is restarting three nuclear reactors offline for years as AI data centers drive massive electricity demand. The Palisades plant in Michigan, Crane Clean Energy Center at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania, and Duane Arnold Energy Center in Iowa are expected to add a combined 2.25 GW. The US Department of Energy is providing up to $4.4 billion in loans to restart them. Microsoft and Google have signed agreements tied to the plants, as their AI and data center operations boost demand for reliable, carbon-free power.

Love and Deepspace just launched its Blade Runner 2049 crossover, but fans are more focused on who’s missing: Valko. Valko was the sixth love interest who was cancelled earlier this year after major backlash, especially from Chinese players. Valko was supposed to have a cyberpunk-style story, so fans think he would’ve been a perfect fit for a Blade Runner crossover.

CD Projekt Red has hired so many Cyberpunk 2077 modders that Cyberpunk 2’s associate game director says around half of the quest team are former modders. Pawel Sasko says modding can be a “foot-in-the-door technique” and a “gateway into game dev,” giving talented fans real experience with how games are built. “We actually hired so many modders. I would say, at this point, half of the quest team is all former modders.” Some of the developers working at CD Projekt Red started out making mods as far back as The Witcher 2.

The developer behind the P.T. PC Port is stepping back from the project after version 1.0.8. The 21-year-old developer, Lorean Xavier, says the project became overwhelming after attracting a lot of attention, including harassment, accusations and even death threats. He has been working on the native PC port since 2024 and released it for free and open source. He says he’s still proud of what he built, but wants to spend more time on his own life. After 1.0.8, he may still release fixes or updates when he feels like working on it, but active development is basically coming to an end.

A former Treyarch developer who worked on Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 says it’s “bittersweet” watching the games become huge hits again. Re-released on PlayStation for $40 each with no new features or paid DLC, both quickly became some of the year’s most-played games. “These legacy titles are still massive money-makers for Activision and Microsoft.” The dev finds it frustrating that companies make huge profits from games built through years of hard work and crunch, while the original developers receive nothing from continued sales. “That wealth needs to be shared retroactively.”

PC Game Pass is now playable on Steam Deck without installing Windows. Xodus Nexus is an open-source Linux launcher that lets you download and run supported Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass games locally through a modified Wine/Proton setup. The latest update adds experimental Steam Deck support, including controller navigation and Steam Gaming Mode integration. You can even add the launcher or individual games to your Steam library. Games already tested on Linux include Gears of War: E-Day, Forza Horizon 6, Deep Rock Galactic, Minecraft Dungeons II, No Man’s Sky and Palworld. It’s still very much a work in progress. Some games don’t work, older UWP titles aren’t supported, and some login or online features can have problems.

An analyst says the backlash over Sony ending physical PS5 game production is coming from a “vocal minority of a revenue minority.” Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics says most players are already digital, especially sports and live-service gamers. But physical buyers still matter: they’re often longtime fans, collectors and big spenders who buy games at launch and collector’s editions. So while they might be a smaller part of the market, they’re also a group that spends a lot of money. He also says Sony’s messaging has made the whole situation worse

PEGI is cracking down on loot boxes. Games with paid random items are now being moved to PEGI 16, and the changes are already rolling out across Europe. EA Sports FC, Pokémon GO, Pokémon TCG Pocket, Mario Kart Tour and Zenless Zone Zero are among the games affected. The new rules apply to existing digital games that were previously rated PEGI 3, 7 or 12 but contain paid random items. Basically, if you can spend real money for a random reward, PEGI now considers that enough to push the game to 16.

YouTube is testing hiding the Dislike button on regular videos. For some users, the button has disappeared from the usual row and been moved into the three-dot menu, while Like is still right there. So if you want to dislike a video, you now have to open another menu first. After removing public dislike counts in 2021 and the Dislike button from Shorts, this feels like another step toward making dislikes harder to use.

Fortnite is getting backlash over its new Obsession skin after censoring its blood effects. The red blood from the movie was changed to black for Fortnite, and some fans are calling out Epic for removing one of the character’s most disturbing details.

PHP 8.5.12 may not have completely fixed the latest PHP security issue. Security researcher Elise Boyd says a double-free crash still works on the patched version. So far, it has only been demonstrated as a local command-line crash. There is no evidence that it can be exploited remotely, and PHP has not confirmed the finding.

GitLab has patched a critical security flaw with a CVSS score of 10.0, the highest possible severity. The vulnerability, CVE-2026-110264, could allow an unauthenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on self-managed GitLab servers. It affects GitLab versions dating back to 7.0, released in 2014. GitLab says there is currently no evidence that the flaw has been exploited, but recommends updating to a patched version as soon as possible.

Stick Run creator Manuel Otto has died at the age of 30. His death was confirmed by the Stick Run team following a suicide during a Twitch livestream. Otto set himself on fire during the broadcast, which was later removed from Twitch.

Xbox is making employees come back to the office four days a week. Starting February 1, 2027, Xbox staff in the Puget Sound area who live within 50 commuting miles of Microsoft’s Redmond campus will have to be in the office at least four days a week. That’s one more day than Microsoft’s current three-day policy, and even existing exemptions will need to be reapplied for.
