exactly. the guards weren't security, they were editorial control

good point. without pushback it's not an interview, it's a press release with a camera crew
Replying to @itsmiraclex
exactly. hard to push back on "cocaine is harmless" when three pistols are pointed at your crew

"only take the straight shot" is the best risk rule i've read in a while. complexity is where the losses hide

being wrong 80% of the time and still winning is the least intuitive truth in trading. most people quit after the third loss

dressing the bodyguards is genius. they're in every photo, and nobody's competing for their attention

$500,000 flat for the shot that made the studio hundreds of millions. the backend points mattered more than the underwear

he answered by not backing down. within months escobar was out of congress, and a year later the minister was dead
Pablo Escobar agreed to a sit-down interview on one condition: his armed guards kept their pistols drawn the entire time.
"We are living the civilization of cocaine. Cocaine is invading the world."
He said it straight to a European camera crew, justifying the trade on his own terms. No difference, he argued, between a man passed out drunk on the sidewalk and a man passed out on drugs. The real problem isn't the drug. It's a lack of education and discipline.
Then he turned it into a grievance against the US. The extradition treaty was built to target marijuana exporters, he said, until Americans started growing their own. Cocaine only got labeled dangerous once it slipped out of American control and into Colombian hands.
The journalist who filmed it put it simply afterward: difficult, in that situation, to have a real debate.
Was that an interview, or a hostage negotiation with better lighting?
