3️⃣ Event-Based Storylines 📖
Realistic scenarios can complement probabilistic methods, helping decision-makers explore risk interactions & evaluate trade-offs
@PlanAdapt, we aim to translate complex climate data into actionable insights that truly serve those most impacted🌟
1️⃣ Risk Amplifiers ➕
Factors like poor governance or maladaptation can escalate small hazards into disasters. Including these amplifiers in assessments = better interventions. 🎯
2️⃣ Cascading Risks 🔄
Not just overlapping hazards, but sectoral ripple effects 🌐
🌍 How do we keep up with the complexity of climate risks? 🤔
That’s the question we’ve been reflecting on while diving into 'Challenges and Opportunities in Climate Risk Assessment' by Oscar Higuera Roa & co-authors.

🌍 Is #adaptation to #climatechange just about managing risks, or should it be about building stronger connections with each other & nature? 🤔
New research explores a 'relational turn' in adaptation - where relationships drive true #climateresilience 🌱
Originally from Paris, now in London, Alice is passionate about linking #climateadaptation with #disasterriskreduction and inclusive practices. She’s also completing her MSc in Risk, Disaster & Resilience at @ucl 🎓

Special importance has been placed on the role of knowledge brokers as intermediaries in processes of co-production that involves the translation of data which brings closer climate scientists to decision makers.
❇ PlanAdapt has always emphasized the importance of the co-production of climate knowledge for enhancing #resilience and the role of #mutual learning.
You can read more about the study here: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
The research study, grounded in expansive learning theory points towards the significance of transdisciplinarity for understanding the intercultural environment as well as tensions that stem from cultural and historical factors.
This shift from traditional methods to co-creating context-specific knowledge ensures more effective climate resilience #policies in environments of #complexity and deep #uncertainty.
❇ A recent study by Alice McClure, Gina Ziervogel and Zarina Patel highlights the #transformative power of #transdisciplinary learning for climate scientists, where collaboration with diverse actors helps tackle complex urban climate risks in southern #African cities.
💡 How is successful co-production of knowledge realised for addressing future #climaterisks and enhancing #resilience ?
And how far away from their traditional roles must climate scientists go to connect #climate information with climate #decisionmaking 🍃 ?
