I can totally see why it’s divisive. Lots of people are absolutely wrong.

Provincial Minister from Brampton, who ignored 19,000 comments received during consultation as well as internal advice against bike lane removals, ‘has a clear mandate’ to remove local bike lanes on city streets in a municipality where his government lost 15 of 25 ridings.
Work to restore vehicle lanes on Bloor Street West was scheduled to begin tonight but was halted by protesters. Make no mistake: these bike lanes are coming out. We have a clear mandate and we will deliver.

Is it too much to ask for publishers of articles advocating for cycling routes on secondary roads in Toronto to require their authors to submit a proposed alternative? @RDiManno, is this the sort of secondary route you're thinking as an alternative to the Yonge Street lanes?

Also there is the obvious point that the Premier shouldn't have a direct say on City of Toronto bike lanes.

The Bloor Street Bike Lane has been, by all means, a success, so much so that businesses on Bloor that originally opposed it, now sing its praises. Its reduced congestion and research has shown its had a positive impact on business. This decision is based on complete nonsense.
#BREAKING - The Ford government says bike lane removal will begin on Tuesday starting with Bloor Street West.

CoA: refused TLAB: approved DC: refused Why? OPA 320 and the city’s steadfast refusal to consider that the size of a property is less important than more homes for more people. 4.1.5 of the OP is fundamentally broken and needs a total re-write.
Toronto has prevailed at Divisional Court to thwart a lot severance to build 2 duplexes a few hundred meters away from a subway station, thanks to the city's definition of "neighbourhoods" in the official plan. canlii.org/en/on/onscdc/doc/…

The City appealing its own TLAB decision to a provincial body is hilarious given that the city setup the TLAB *specifically* because it didn’t want to be subject to the OMB. Clown show.
