⚠️ Unless more of the people who use our library start supporting it every month, we will have no choice but to begin an orderly wind-down of Right to Know, They Vote For You, Planning Alerts, and OpenAustralia.org.au.

ALT Here’s how to keep it open: Become a monthly supporter, starting at $20 a month. What keeps a library like this open year after year is steady, predictable income from people like you. For about the cost of a coffee per week, our small team can keep collecting new information from hundreds of government websites every day, answer your questions, fix what breaks, and build things we have wanted to for years.

Interesting to see what's been happening in the UK
We have launched a new Planning Data platform on @GOVUK which aims to make land and housing data easier to find, understand, use and trust.
Data is collected from local planning authorities and transformed into a consistent state, across England: planning.data.gov.uk/

Highly recommend @PlanningAlerts a free service from @OpenAustralia which alerts you to development applications in your area so you have time to respond. Super handy when your little suburb is subject to creeping DAs by stealth & the local paper is defunct #community #localgov
270,000 new people can get planning alerts because we added 9 new councils in VIC and 2 new councils in NSW. Hooray!

We've just added support for the GeoJSON format to the PlanningAlerts API. See planningalerts.org.au/api/ho…
This is good for GIS users and also makes it easy to integrate PlanningAlerts with some open source mapping tools
Inner West Council @IWCouncil is back on PlanningAlerts after a (far too long) break. They switched to a new system early last year which proved to be difficult to get data out of :-( But we managed it! For example this "Demolition of all buildings" planningalerts.org.au/applic…

Happy for Moreton Bay Regional Council in Queensland @MoretonBayTweet to be back on PlanningAlerts. After the council switched over to a custom system for showing development applications we wrote a custom scraper to get the information. 450,000 people can get alerts once again!
Welcome Cassowary Coast Regional Council @CassCoastRegion cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au/. Around 30,000 new people can receive Planning Alerts now. That's a cause for celebration.
Ku-ring-gai Council @krgcouncil is back on PlanningAlerts too now. You were blocking all overseas traffic to your website which was stopping us from getting at the information but we'll overlook that! :-)
