👏 Congratulations to Officer Marlisia Williams, our September 2026 Officer of the Month!
Just two months removed from Field Training, Officer Williams demonstrated exceptional initiative, investigative skills, and dedication while taking the lead on a complex investigation involving elderly victims targeted by a suspect posing as a caretaker.
Recognizing connections between two cases, Officer Williams worked tirelessly to gather evidence, coordinate with neighboring agencies, and track down leads. Her investigative work, including obtaining a mobile tracking warrant, played a critical role in identifying and apprehending the suspect, who was charged in both Plantation cases.
Officer Williams’ commitment to protecting our community’s most vulnerable residents and her determination to see the investigation through to the end exemplify the very best of our profession.
Please join us in congratulating Officer Williams on this well-deserved recognition! We are proud to have her serving our Plantation community. 💙👏

💜 Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Domestic violence doesn’t always leave visible scars. It can happen behind closed doors, in homes that seem happy from the outside, and to people who may be afraid to ask for help.
Today, our Plantation Police Department employees wore purple to honor Domestic Violence Awareness Month, show their support for survivors, and help raise awareness about an issue that affects individuals and families in every community.
This October, we stand with survivors, honor their courage, and remind our community that no one deserves to live in fear.
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, you are not alone. Help is available, and reaching out can be the first step toward safety.
As a community, we all have a role to play. Check on the people you care about, listen without judgment, and help connect those in need with available resources.
💜 You deserve to feel safe. You deserve to be heard. Help is available.
📞 If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For confidential support, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or text START to 88788.

Distinguished Performance Award 🏆
On March 29, Plantation officers recovered a stolen Rolls-Royce valued at approximately $400,000 and encountered a suspect believed to be connected to the theft. While the investigation was underway, a search of the suspect revealed a concealed object that investigators believed could be the vehicle’s key fob.
Sergeant McWilliams had already worked an 11.5-hour shift and was heading home when he learned the suspect was refusing to surrender the item. As the leader of his shift’s Special Enforcement Team (SET), he chose to step back in—authoring a search warrant that was quickly approved by a judge. With the assistance of PPD detectives, the item was recovered and confirmed to be the stolen vehicle’s Rolls-Royce key fob. The investigation ultimately led to additional charges, including grand theft of the first degree.
But this recognition is about more than one case. Sgt. McWilliams leads by example. When SET was established, he developed and taught a lesson to his team on how to properly prepare search warrants. When the opportunity came to put that training into practice, he did exactly that—and helped turn a difficult investigation into a solved case.
His commitment to duty, leadership and willingness to go the extra mile made a direct difference in this investigation and will help his team serve future victims even better.
Congratulations, Sgt. McWilliams, on being recognized with the Distinguished Performance Award. Your example is what leadership looks like. 👏🏼👮♂️
Are you speeding? We are watching. 👀
If you’ve been in Plantation long enough, you know the saying.
We have zero tolerance for drivers who put our residents and visitors in danger.
On Saturday, October 3, officers observed a Ford Mustang traveling at a high rate of speed, swerving in and out of traffic and driving aggressively. Officers paced the vehicle and determined it was traveling 120 mph on W. Broward Blvd. between N. Pine Island Road and Nob Hill Road.
The driver, 21-year-old Brodsky Andris, was arrested and charged with speeding 100+ mph and reckless driving. His vehicle was towed, and he was transported to BSO Main Jail.
Later that same day, officers observed a group of dirt bike riders traveling recklessly and at high speeds on State Road 7 and W. Broward Blvd. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the riders fled.
One of the dirt bikes was later observed pulling into a driveway. Officers made contact with 28-year-old Jordan Freeman, who initially refused commands to get on the ground. After a brief struggle, officers took Freeman into custody.
Freeman was charged with fleeing, resisting arrest, and reckless driving. His dirt bike was towed, and he was transported to BSO Main Jail.
Too many people are injured or killed every year because of reckless driving. We don't want to see that number grow.
So, just like the old Plantation saying goes:
Are you speeding? We are watching.
And yes, we are.
Drive safe, Plantation. 🚔
