Important investigative report by @Cain in @IJFMedia on the 2022 Vaughan condo mass shooting by a licenced handgun owner despite being subject to a protection order: "𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁? Francesco Villi inflicted terror and misery on his neighbours for years. Why was he able to legally buy the handgun he would use to murder 5 people?" theijf.org/article/who-do-pr… A key takeaway is that the measure in former #BillC21 (passed 3 yrs ago) making revocation of a firearms licence *automatic* for people subject to a protection order IS STILL NOT IN FORCE

Advisory panel set to advise minister @gary_srp on review of firearms classification including #SKS has yet to hold its first meeting - almost a year after Ottawa announced new panel: "PolySeSouvient said this week that instead of implementing a comprehensive ban on assault-style firearms and high-capacity magazines, 'the government keeps announcing new consultations and panels, and each one becomes another reason to postpone actual change. Lives are at stake. The government needs to stop consulting and start acting, before more people are killed in mass shootings.'” ctvnews.ca/politics/article/…

"statistically rare shootings" Why not spell it out? MASS SHOOTINGS Tell us #CCFR: How many mass shootings are required before one can justify gun control? (Also: Most crime guns are domestically sourced. ctvnews.ca/canada/article/mo…)
Gun control is often sold using misleading language like “assault-style,” or using tragic, but statistically rare shootings as justification, rather than where the majority of gun deaths happen (hint: not from mass shootings), or where crime guns come from (hint: not Canada). 🇨🇦

[EDITORIAL @globeandmail re #TumblerRidge investigation]: "This is a problem that goes beyond the police. Too often in Canada, the default assumption among officials is that the public has no right to know. .. Because of the importance of law enforcement and the justice system – which are crucial both to public safety and to the public’s perception of safety – secrecy from them has a particularly corrosive effect. .. The person charged in the US reported that Rootselaar claimed to have stolen firearms from the family gun safe, convinced someone to buy ammunition for them and possessed a device that US police believed would convert a rifle into a machine gun. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿? 𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰, 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮’𝘀 𝗴𝘂𝗻-𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗺𝗲. .. The principle of 'need to know' is common in security and intelligence jobs. This limits information to those who require it. But officials must remember that the public is not party to any such policy. The public has a default right to know – that’s fundamental to a free and open society." theglobeandmail.com/opinion/…

"The ex-soldier who tried to carry out a mass shooting at a synagogue in Belleville, Ont., last month did not have a firearms licence at the time of the attack, according to a police source with direct knowledge of the investigation. Mr. Ward, who brought multiple firearms, including a shotgun, and significant amounts of ammunition and gasoline to the synagogue, died in hospital from gunshot wounds. Belleville Police Chief Murray Rodd said Mr. Ward came prepared to inflict maximum casualties and was equipped 'to carry on a gun battle for a long period of time'." theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

Are we doing this again? Still #gaslighing your base to #scaremonger them into believing hunting guns were targeted? - The Benelli M1 Super 90 Shotgun along with other specific models have been prohibited since 1998. They were only listed in G46 because the amendment contained all prohibited weapons at the time. - Only Benelli models that meet certain criteria are prohibited. - Hunting versions are not affected. You just can't help yourself polysesouvient.ca/Documents_…
Another swing and a miss from MisInfoPoly … I’ll remind you about the amendments from C-21 that were eventually withdrawn. They absolutely were targeting the Benelli 🇨🇦🤷🏼‍♀️

Carey Price's Benelli was never banned (and never targeted to be banned: that was #CCFR-generated #disinformation)
We are not the problem. #TBT

"Prime Minister @MarkJCarney indicated his government will look at the advice of an arm’s-length panel studying firearms classification before making any decision on the status of the SKS rifle." Is there a timeline? Recall last December 2025, Public Safety Minister @gary_srp announced "a comprehensive review of the firearms classification regime" - on the same day he published the report of his independent "Expert Advisory Panel on Firearms," which concluded that #SKS models can share the same characteristics as currently prohibited models that can cause "substantial harm to the public and law enforcement." Eleven months later, there's no perceptible progress on this "new" review. ctvnews.ca/politics/article/… via @CanadianPress
