I will be very outspoken about this because frankly, I'm very disappointed. Who is @Quik_Exchange to take away royalties which serve as income streams for so many creators on $SEI and yet charge the people 2% for being a non DECENTRALIZED marketplace? Let's talk about it. Let me remind you that this ecosystem which has flourished from the past 2 months only exists because it has been standing on the backbones of creators and builders. @TheColonyNFT__ , @seiyansnft and so many more have come so far and have brought so much infrastructure and attention into our space simply from royalties. Now, you take away these royalties as to "recognize that the path to sustainable monetization for creators extends beyond the traditional royalty model.". I ask again, Who are you to say this and charge 2% of every transaction. From @NFTLlama's post, the founder said "I dont think creators deserve to get 6-7 figs from the mint and just sit back, and count that extra money from the royalties." - Sir? Have you seen our space? Paid mints barely mint out. - Sir? Our space is smart enough to not give creators 6-7 figs if they don't deserve it. We have fudders here too you know. (ahem ahem) - Who tf are you and what have you contributed to this space for you to make such claims? He also said "we'll probably enforce royalties for free mints in the future" - Sir? So what about now? Should they just sit on their hands while you rob them of the money that their community and team so rightfully deserve? - So why did you launch this without having this prepared yet? Especially since knowing that 80% of our space right now came from a free mint. I'm irritated that your tweets try to paint you as "innovative" and "doing this for the space" or "pushing creators to be better". When if you look deeper, the only winner here, is you. - Taking away creator royalties but charging 2% is so hypocritical. (L for creators, W for Quik). - Less royalties = More scalpers/traders. (More transaction fees for Quik! Nothing goes to the creators.) - Points system! = More farmers will come and trade for Quik points! = More transaction fees for Quik again! (Keep in mind that these fees are going to Quik and not the team that actually built your project). All these L's for creators will bring in a flurry of more "hyped", "paid" mints (that we will have no choice but to support because free mints are going to go away). Once these projects mint out, we will see a crap-ton of slow rugs because creators will no longer be incentivized to continue working on the project. In Summary: Creators Lose, Traders Lose, The ecosystem dies, Quik wins. (I'm sure the Quik team is smart enough to know that this is what's gonna happen to the ecosystem, but they don't care. Their loyalty is to another chain... am i right?) Think about it, how is the $SEI Ecosystem going to attract more creators, when our own creators don't get paid fairly? There is a reason that @Pallet_Exchange and @mrktexchange implemented royalties. Now that you undercut them and gave the traders the option to shortchange creators, you are 100% encouraging them to do the same. Basically encouraging a culture of UNHEALTHY competition and undercutting. You also frame it in a way that you are "letting users decide whether they want to pay royalties or not". Give them an option on whether they want to pay the marketplace fee or not too. (You can't because you know they won't too.) ** Study Human Psychology. This is not innovation. This is not protecting the space. This is cutting corners and shortchanging creators for your own personal interest. I will not be speaking about the tech/security side because I am not a dev. I will speak about the creators because I am on their side. We can revisit the topic of optional royalties in the long run. But what is important is the now. We will not get to "the long run" part if we don't fix the now. We've worked so hard for this ecosystem to grow, only to see it be attacked now by greed. If you (@Quik_Exchange) really cared about the ecosystem and you really did have its' best interest in mind, you would respond here. Or even better, you would respond with action. Even @SeiNetwork team, I fucking love ya'll with a passion. But supporting this cause has some dire effects on our ecosystem that will not be beneficial in the short nor long term. Please hear me out. I fucking know NFTs. To the marketplace makers, or anyone that wants to support or reject this advoacy. I'm an open book and I'm willing to discuss if you are. To $SEI users, be responsible. Fight for this space. Don't let a good thing die. Pay your royalties. Advocate for enforced royalties. Make sure this reaches Quik and The SEI team.
