Heads up: I don't have Twitter/X on my phone or tablet anymore. You're unlikely to reach me here, especially in a DM.
Bluesky is reaching escape velocity. As of this week, I find myself scrolling it instead of this place that used to be Twitter.
I hate that iOS app developers are leaving iOS 15 and thus the iPod touch behind, especially for apps that target kids. I get it, but I hate it.
Something I need a bunch of: small MicroSD cards, in capacities like:
💾 128 MB
💾 512 MB
💾 1 GB
💾 4 GB
I need them for things like Game Boy flashcarts and SCSI hard disk emulators for old computers. They don't need to be fast, just reliable. Any ideas on where to find them?
Packing for #WLPC? Don't forget your #PacketPotato! I added a lots of stuff to the firmware last year:
🥔 Set RSSI threshold
🥔 Data Rate/MCS display mode
🥔 Retry Rate display mode
If you didn't get yours updated last year, wear it to @TheWLPC, and come find me for an update!
"Joel, you're focusing on your @HaminaWireless Deep Dive for #WLPC, and getting it done, right?"
Uh... yeah! Yes! I am. 😅😬
In Poland, I ate Zapiekanka. Bread, mushrooms, tons of melty cheese, and ketchup for 3.50€. Delicious. 🇵🇱 🥖 🍄🟫 🧀
Congrats to @Oscium for their acquisition of @metageek! I am very excited to see where things go, especially with Brian Tuttle at the helm! 🏴☠️
Oscium acquires @MetaGeek!
This deal will deepen the integration between Oscium hardware and MetaGeek software. All to one end: to better serve the wireless professional. Brian Tuttle, MetaGeek’s co-founder, returns to lead software development.

Whoa. This is super high quality, and lots of fun! I would have gladly paid for it!
My new #GameBoy game Lunar Lancer is out now! It's FREE, so get your copy here:

Time to finish up the PowerBook 160 with a BlueSCSI kit from @OneGeekArmy!
This card does SCSI solid state storage and SCSI ethernet emulation (which means Wi-Fi support for this 1992 machine). I’ve never soldered castellated joins before; they’re pretty fun!
Weekend project success! Here’s an Arduino transmitting data to my Toshiba Libretto via IrDA at 9600 baud.
The goal: pipe in serial mouse data, since docks with PS/2 and serial ports are hard to find. Several things (like Windows 9x drivers) need to go right for this to work.
Here’s a little trick from the vintage computing community that you can apply to wireless networking: if an AP is marked up, scrub it with a wet paper towel and some baking soda. The marks will come right off.
Hey, that works! It’s not razor sharp, but I’ll take it. #Macintosh
After over 14 months without, I’m pretty thrilled to have smuggled a couple of Macs into Finland! 🍎🇫🇮
The 145B has a good LCD for the 160 (thanks for the assist, @ThisDoesNotComp!).
I’ll get a BlueSCSI for storage and Wi-Fi, and then I need to figure out a battery. 🤔
I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome @UKDanJones to the team at @HaminaWireless!
As a precaution, we've enabled STP to keep him from answering his own emails, feature requests, and support tickets. Broadcast storm avoided. Whew. 😅
