☘️🏈 A MODERN-DAY RUDY STORY AT NOTRE DAME! 🏈☘️
More than 50 years ago, Rudy Ruettiger inspired generations with his determination, heart, and dream of playing football for the Fighting Irish. Today, PowerNIL athlete @mattwilliamsND is carrying on that same spirit as a walk-on running back at the University of Notre Dame!
Matt's journey is a reminder that being part of something special isn't always about scholarships, playing time, or the spotlight. It's about dedication, sacrifice, and hard work that happen when nobody is watching.
Notre Dame Football recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at Matt's journey in its Day in the Life of a Notre Dame Football Walk-On video, showcasing the commitment it takes to pursue a dream at one of college football's most storied programs. While every athlete's journey is different, Matt embodies the same determination that made Rudy's story legendary.

At PowerNIL, we're kicking off a new educational series exploring one of the most important conversations in college athletics today, Revenue Sharing vs. NIL. As the landscape of college athletics continues to evolve, understanding the difference between revenue sharing and “true” NIL is more important than ever.
Throughout this series, we'll break down key distinctions, explore why personal branding still matters, and highlight how student-athletes can position themselves for opportunities both during and beyond their playing careers. We're starting with a fundamental question: Is revenue sharing really NIL? Let's dive in!
Revenue sharing provides compensation tied to an athlete's participation in college athletics. “True” NIL is about creating value through an athlete's name, image, likeness, reputation, and personal brand through partnerships with outside businesses and brands.
While schools may also use affiliated NIL arrangements to supplement revenue sharing, those arrangements are different from independent, third-party NIL opportunities.
Here's the bottom line! Revenue sharing can provide financial opportunities today. Building a personal brand creates opportunities that can extend well beyond an athlete's playing career.
At PowerNIL, we believe athletes need to understand both, because their value shouldn't end when their playing days do. Stay tuned as next time we will break down why building your brand matters more than ever in today's college athletics landscape!

At PowerNIL we are excited to be an official partner of Rise Above: Friends of Penn State Adaptive Athletics, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to advancing elite opportunities for adaptive student-athletes.
This initiative is focused on raising the funding necessary to provide scholarships, training resources, equipment, and travel support for adaptive athletes competing at the highest level. Unlike traditional Division I athletes backed by major athletic budgets, these athletes rely on external support to access the same level of opportunity. The gap is real, and this partnership is built to close it.
We are actively engaging corporate partners, sponsors, and individual donors who want to align with these high-performance athletes and directly impact these athletes’ ability to train, compete, and succeed. Partners and donors are invited to engage now!

The NCAA's proposed 5-for-5 eligibility model is generating plenty of discussion throughout college athletics, sports media outlets, and the national news. From recruiting and roster construction to transfer portal activity and NIL opportunities, the potential changes will have a major impact on athletes, coaches, teams, and brands alike. In topic 8.0 we dive into the rise of the veteran athlete!
As athletes spend more years on campus, we’re seeing the rise of the “veteran athlete.” These athletes have had more time to build their reputation, grow their audience and become comfortable representing themselves beyond the game. For brands, that can mean partnering with an athlete who already understands how to communicate, handle appearances and connect with a community.
As NIL continues to evolve, experience could become an even bigger advantage. Proven athletes who have built credibility and established their personal brand may find themselves standing out to businesses looking for the right partnership. Sometimes the most valuable NIL asset isn’t just talent, it’s time, trust and experience.

Why are more brands turning to athletes over traditional influencers? One of the answers is simple! Influencer marketing often focuses on the moment. Find the right audience, create the post, generate some attention and move on to the next opportunity. Athlete partnerships can offer brands something different, the chance to build a relationship that grows over time.
When a brand partners with an athlete early and continues that relationship throughout their career, fans see that brand become part of the athlete’s journey. They see it through big games, milestones, community involvement, personal growth and everything that comes next. As the athlete’s platform grows, the value of that relationship has the opportunity to grow with it.
When you partner with an athlete to help you reach your brand’s goals you do not just sponsor the post, you become part of the journey! If your business wants to connect with the next generation, partner with the people they're already looking up to. At PowerNIL, we help brands connect with athletes who align with their mission, audience, and goals. From recruiting and roster construction to transfer portal activity and NIL opportunities, the potential changes will have a major impact on athletes, coaches, teams, and brands alike. In topic 6.0 we dive into how to appropriately build a 5-Year Brand Strategy!
Your first NIL deal shouldn’t be the finish line. It should be one small part of a much bigger plan. The athletes who create lasting value understand that NIL success isn’t built overnight. It comes from consistently building your reputation, creating quality content, getting involved in your community and developing relationships that can open doors down the road.
Think beyond the next sponsorship. Where do you want your brand to be in five years? The most valuable athletes don’t just chase deals. They build trust, grow their audience and create a brand that businesses actually want to be associated with!

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the families forever changed, and the first responders, service members and everyday Americans who showed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.
Twenty-five years later, we honor their memory and the spirit of unity, service and strength that followed.
We will never forget.
