I'm excited to announce Zeal's Series B led by @portageinvest , with participation from @sparkcapital , @CommerceVC , @CohenCircle , and @LongJourneyVC. Today's workforce demands flexibility. In America alone, there are millions of this type of “modern worker” that serve the backbone of the economy--they work hourly jobs, work across geographies, and fulfill temporary positions. We power the staffing companies, gig platforms, labor marketplaces, and HR service providers that are rising to meet the needs of this modern worker. With our new launches of Remote I9 & E-verify, Custom Paperwork, Paycards & Digital Wallets+ Earned Wage Access, and Whitelabeled Mobile Apps on top of Core Payroll, it's clear that @zealapi is the modern solution.

Just telling people they slept poorly led to impaired cognitive function. Telling them they slept fine preserved it.

Billionaire Michael Milken joked “if a US company replaces the US-born CEO with a CEO born in India, I buy the stock” But he reveals he hasn’t backtested the idea. So we did. In the last 15yrs, that would’ve 50x’d your money: 7.5x more $$ and >2x IRR vs S&P500: 30% vs 14%!

Traditionally product teams have to fully anticipate what users need ahead of time, resulting in predefined dashboards, rigid workflows, and fixed navigation. Chatbots don't fix this central process problem. What if interfaces start to adapt dynamically around how people actually work. Systems need to learn what information matters to you and what decisions you make most often. Pretty much every week I should see a slightly different version of my dashboard (ai-managed custom versioning) A/B tests are too naive. This is something @LaunchDarkly or @Optimizely could do that would change UX forever
Replying to @benhylak
I’m not saying Airbnb’s current interface is optimal for AI. It isn’t. The future interface should be conversational, but visually richer than a chatbot. It’s a hard problem, and we haven’t solved it yet.

Hey @AOC here's a list of billion dollar co's you use: 1. @Invisalign 2. @Uber 3. @AACenter 4. @Apple 5. @instagram none of these co's could realistically operate as "small businesses" because scale is exactly what makes them useful, reliable, and accessible to millions of people yes they can earn a billion dollars, and they did
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: You can't earn a billion dollars. Ilana Glazer: That's right. AOC: You just can't earn that. Glazer: That's exactly correct. AOC: You can get market power. You can break rules. You can do all sorts of things. You can abuse labor laws. Glazer: Yup. AOC: You can pay people less than what they're worth. Glazer: Yup. AOC: But you can't earn that, right? Glazer: That's right. AOC: And so you have to create a myth that -- since you didn't earn that, you have to create a myth of earning it.

WE ARE HIRING ENGINEERS @magicpatterns - Growth has been insane - Currently profitable - We’re still only two people (both technical founders) And we want you on the rocketship. My co-founder and I are extremely scrappy. We worked as the 1st employee and 2nd employee at a another YC startup, so we get it. We had an amazing experience as the first engineers and take great pride in ensuring we make Magic Patterns an amazing place to work and learn alongside us. We’ll learn how to scale this hypergrowth startup, build AI applications, and ship code. Fast. We appreciate job applications that have used @magicpatterns or products like ours because we care deeply about understanding our customers. Link below 👇👇👇👇

Today, we are announcing that we have doubled our AUM @LongJourney by closing a $181,818,181.8 fund. I can’t be more proud of what @cyantist and I dreamed up 5yrs ago. For both of us this business has always been deeply personal. Today I would like to explain why it matters to me.

Programming has always just been abstractions. Scratch did this really well (over one billion total projects have been created on the site)
Does prompting go away? If prompting stays, then programming just becomes prompting, albeit in a higher order language.

We are on the cusp of a space cambrian explosion
Catching boosters with chopsticks doesn't just make for great videos, it will actually reduce the cost to orbit by 10x. Many space startup ideas just became viable.

TIL Alberta, Canada has been RAT FREE 🐀 ❌ 💀 since the 1950s. This has to be one of the most hilarious maps to exist. The history of it is fascinating 👇

Today, Alberta has a 29-km "Rat Control Zone" along its border with the neighboring province, invest $500,000 annually in this program, and have a toll-free "rat hotline" for reporting sightings! Thanks to this strategy, Alberta stands out as one of the rare locations globally where rat numbers have been effectively managed

Back in the US, in April of last year Kathleen Corradi was appointed as the "Rat Czar" for New York--perhaps there are things to learn from Alberta? But also, what is NYC without its rats?

Remember when AI played against expert Go players? AlphaGo played moves that seemed naive at first, but turned out to be brilliant in the long run. So much so, that AlphaGo actually changed the way humans play the game today. Here's @harari_yuval talking about it on the @Trevornoah's podcast

Here's a summary of what it did 👇 1. Influence over territory: Prioritized long-term influence, sacrificing local territory 2. "Shoulder hits": Placed stones next to opponent's groups instead of direct attacks, creating subtle pressure 3. Early 3-3 invasions: Used risky corner invasions, challenging traditional timing 4. Tenuki: Abandoned local fights to play elsewhere, showing a unique global perspective These tactics seemed amateurish at first glance, but changed human gameplay

Are there other areas that AI seems to be "hallucinating", when in reality it's showcasing novel creativity?
