Taking a loan has never been easier. There is almost no friction between wanting something and borrowing to pay for it.
The problem is that income is limited, while the list of things we want is endless. And often, it isn’t even the purchase we want as much as the momentary thrill of buying it.
We are taught how to earn and save, but learning how to spend is just as important. When an impulse purchase becomes an EMI, you are committing future income even before it hits your account. The excitement of spending fades in days, but the debt stays for years.
Borrowing to invest in a home, education, or business makes sense. Borrowing for lifestyle consumption locks you into a loop that leaves no breathing room when an emergency hits.
In this video, @Zero1ByZerodha looks at why household debt in India is rising, how to assess whether your debt is manageable, and practical ways to pay it down.
Congratulations to @PrateekLearnapp, @swati_learnapp, and the team on crossing 800,000 subscribers.

I often get asked for a stock tip, something that will make people rich. 😬
Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts to getting rich. It takes good habits and patience. Things like buying stuff you don't need, or worse, borrowing to buy them. The other big one is not having health insurance. Things like these can really hold you back.
@Zero1ByZerodha and @PrateekLearnapp do a fantabulous job of explaining the middle-class trap.
Varsity live has this cool practice interaction so you can learn by doing and a leaderboard to keep things competitive. That’s the best way to learn to save your taxes.
Show up this Sunday. It’s free, live and I promise you’ll have a lot of fun.
When was the last time you talked to someone about taxes? Chances are, you don’t even remember.
Most of us don’t really think about taxes until we have to. But whether we realise it or not, taxes are linked to everything we do with money.
This Sunday, we’re teaming up with @ZerodhaVarsity for the first-ever Varsity Live session on taxation.
@iamvishvajit will break down how taxes work in India—from the absolute basics to tax-saving strategies and more.
Whether you're new to taxes or just want to navigate them with confidence, this is your chance to take charge of your finances.
It’s free, it’s live, and we promise it’ll be fun.
We’re doing two sessions—one in English and another in Hindi.

A few days back, I had a 30 minute ‘intro’ call scheduled with Prateek which ended up being a 2 hour call — only cut short because both of us realized that it was Saturday 7PM and we both had family commitments.
I instantly promised him that I would visit his office — I forgot GGN-Noida is a 2 hour commute (which I’ve never done before!). And, somehow last week, I landed up at the LearnApp office - the cab commute was longer than my flight; but it was worth it!
Prateek & Swati (husband-wife duo) have a built a fantastic fin ‘education’ business over the past 5 years and even more fantastic ‘information’ network via their JV with Zerodha called Zero1 Media Network (*)
Few things to highlight from my conversation with Prateek:

1/3: I am writing to express my deep disappointment with @mgmotor. My experience with the MG Hector I purchased in last year has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable. #MGMotor #CustomerExperience

3/3: I deserve better as a customer. It's concerning that a brand like MG Motor fails to deliver on its promises and compromises safety. I urge @mgmotorindia to address these issues promptly and provide a satisfactory resolution. #CustomerFeedback

2/3: In just 11-12 months, my car has broken down three times, leaving me stranded. The lack of timely repairs and communication from the dealership has been utterly disappointing. @mgmotorindia #QualityControl #CustomerService

It’s crazy how online schools optimise for interview prep more than skill. When you interview these guys they have all the right answers but don’t understand anything in depth.
This needs some fixing. Skill is not interview prep.
