Today, I appeared before the Lahore High Court in the contempt proceedings against the Foreign Secretary concerning the continued detention of Salman and Junaid in the UAE. The report submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was found wholly unsatisfactory by the Court. Despite repeated directions, the Foreign Office has failed to answer the most fundamental questions: On what charges are Salman and Junaid being detained? Under which judicial orders has their detention been authorised? And what concrete steps have been taken by the Pakistani diplomatic mission to secure consular and diplomatic access to them? The Ministry has offered no satisfactory answers to any of these questions. Taking serious notice of this persistent failure, the Lahore High Court has directed the responsible officer of the Foreign Ministry to appear in person on the next date of hearing, fixed after ten days. It is deeply concerning that while two Pakistani citizens remain detained in a foreign country, their own Foreign Office has yet to provide the Court with even basic information about the legal basis of their detention or the efforts made to safeguard their rights

It is now becoming increasingly evident that the recent meeting permitted between Khan Sahib and his counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar, was merely a box-ticking exercise to pave the way for the hurried conviction of both in the Al-Qadir case.
Political victimisation and the crushing of basic human rights seem to know no bounds. The continued denial of proper medical care to two prisoners is not just deeply inhumane, but puts their health and well-being at grave risk.

This is not natural. Like her other siblings, her blood pressure has always been genetically low to normal. The family has received no information from jail authorities. She had a heart valve replacement and her condition is vulnerable. She should be seen urgently by a cardiologist."

Within the confines of prison walls, a deeply concerning pattern is emerging. Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and her elderly sisters, Dr. Uzma Khan, Aleema Khan, and Noreen Khan, are facing serious concerns regarding medical care, isolation, and access to their families.
▪️ Imran Khan: Reports indicate blood pressure reaching 192, prolonged isolation, and ongoing demands for independent medical assessment.
▪️ Bushra Bibi: Reported 65–70% vision loss, with concerns over delays in essential specialist treatment.
▪️ Dr. Uzma Khan: A replaced heart valve, rising blood pressure, and, according to her family, no medical treatment or access to her cardiologist.
▪️ Noreen Khan: Hospitalized following severe chest pain, while her family was reportedly kept uninformed and denied access. Her son, Hassan Khan Niazi, himself imprisoned, has repeatedly requested permission to see his mother since her hospitalisation. His requests remain unanswered.
These are not minor administrative issues. They concern the health, safety, and fundamental rights of individuals in state custody.
How long can families be kept in the dark? How long can urgent medical concerns go unanswered? And are we simply going to observe this situation unfold?
