Kyle Franz, one of the profession’s most in-demand designers, is in the process of shaping bunkers and greens at this new golf club between Austin & San Antonio. The property’s potential is outstanding with sweeping meadows and rolling contour, but the most interesting aspects are the myriad barrancas that network the property ranging from three to 30 feet in depth. Franz’s design uses them and chains of bunkers to create alternate fairways and optional routes of play on nearly every hole.

Renovated in 2023, the bunker design changed from 70-80 steep, challenging bunkers to 340+ lower faced bunkers using some for aesthetics and placing many in spots that stop balls from running into danger.

The 2026 @GCSAAConference breaks records, growing for the fourth year in a row, with 12,824 attendees – up 15% over 2025. A record-breaking 8,074 seminar seats were filled, exceeding the prior record set in 2008. The trade show floor featured 523 exhibitors (vs. 464 in 2025) and 178,600 square feet of exhibit space, an increase of 16% over 2025.
