Anyone who feels that ANLE's "no se dice" rhetoric has no place in a Spanish classroom: come to the free event on May 5th, 2:00 pm PST/4:00 pm CST/5:00 EST. A bunch of us plan to ask hard questions and make known that we find their pedagogy unacceptable.

My Lai Massacre (Vietnam, 1968) and murders of six Asian women in Atlanta both occurred on March 16th.
#WestOfBrooklyn feel-good drama combining working class NY Italian-American comedy with a reminder to follow higherbrow inclinations if you have 'em. Stellar acting all around in addition to impressive poetic chops from Marmo who should be creating whatever the hell he wants.
#WestOfBrooklyn nothing says true acceptance like "HEY WHAT ARE YOU FREAKIN RETARTED?!"
#WestOfBrooklyn not for nothin I totally saw it coming that she'd be preggo
#WestOfBrooklyn WHERE DID HE GET BLACK AND WHITE COOKIES IN L.A.??
Watching #WestOfBrooklyn tons of great one-liners. "He eats like he's got three assholes"
Latino Policy Forum presentation: When you look at the academic achievement of kids who *began* school as English learners, you have to examine how they do after they *exited* the program. Previous reports only focused on kids still receiving services.
"10 Spanish Words You’ve Been Saying Wrong" contributes to linguistic insecurity and bullying by Spanish teachers. U.S. Spanish is a valid variety!
#perolike: If thousands of people use a word, IT EXISTS. To insist otherwise is prescriptive, elitist nonsense. There are formal and informal ways of speaking, but to deny a word's existence (or use in a certain way) is linguistic ignorance.
Something I'm reflecting on today:
Good ideas can do bad things when manipulated arrogantly; you can end up reproducing the very same damage you claim to be combatting.
