I offer this plan to save America, contingent on a Dem WH/Sen/HoR in Jan. Admit PR/DC, BUT also admit (or threaten to) partitioned large blue states (6 Californias, etc.)--enough to create shock and awe (maybe a net of 20 safe Dem seats) and force a Constitutional Convention.

Apparently real wage growth is bad...
An under-appreciated point. Social Security's financial problems are not just demographics. Rather, by formula, benefits become *much* more generous each generation (yes, even after inflation). Today's retirees are coming out further ahead than previous ones - at great cost.

It has long been my contention that Congress defunding the SSC in the 90s was responsible for the 2008 global financial crisis (by releasing hordes of would-be theoretical physicists onto the finance job market.

What the heck is up with this graph? I don't care (much) about the trend. The data isn't close to correct. Data citations from the NCES and BLS, but the average tuition+fees at a 4-year public college was < $9400 ($21.3k with room +board) in 2020-2021 not $29k in the chart???
Something nobody knows is that college tuition peaked in 2019-2020 and has been falling for the past few years.

Yes. We know why. There are tens of thousands of VERY high qualified students and only thousands of admissions offers across the Ivy League. On a side note, "perfect" ACT scores don't mean what they used to. 5000+ such scores in recent years vs. ~50 thirty years ago

Read the @laurelwamsley @NPR piece on how the CDC guidance may affect kids/parents. While informative, seems to completely miss the biggest issue: the "face freedom" crowd will lie and go maskless, making indoor public places much more risky for kids than they are now!
That poem was FUCKING AWESOME

This thread is for recycling the stereotypical comments about black protesters. Don’t these people have jobs? White people are always playing the victim It’s their violent culture... they let their kids listen to all that country music. This is disrespectful to the troops

In new petition, GOP candidates and state Rep. Toth ask Texas Supreme Court to REJECT Harris County votes cast in drive-thru lanes (100,000+ so far), calling it illegal curbside voting reserved for sick/disabled. A new argument after earlier bid to end drive-thru voting failed.

I’m disappointed that they had a whole back-and-forth about transparency, and Harris didn’t say: “OK, be transparent: when was Donald Trump’s last negative COVID-19 test?”

I know this is controversial, but I just think the American president should model good behavior instead of bad behavior.

That “anti-white” sentiment people keep talking about is just the erosion of what I call the “privilege of individuality.” White people aren’t accustomed to being lumped together and being defined by the actions of others. Welcome to the club.
