A fire exit chained shut for the Halloween party. 🎃 From the corridor it looks secure. From the other side, it's a dead end.

That's the kind of fault we see on walk-rounds: a locked escape route, a closer that doesn't latch, and no record of who holds the key. 🔍

Light under a fire door is a gap smoke can use. 👻 A painted seal, a closer that won't pull the door shut or a gap at the floor all let smoke through. 🌐 protestesltd.co.uk/fire-door… 📞 01604 696113

How often do fire doors need inspecting? No fixed legal interval for most commercial buildings. The fire risk assessment sets it, six months is the common benchmark, and busy routes go quarterly or monthly. Write down the reasoning. protestesltd.co.uk · 01604 696113

Good shout. The ceiling void is where a lot of it unravels - fire walls stopping short, and ductwork and diffuser connections punching through without the right treatment.

🎃 The decorations came down on Monday morning. The sticky tape stayed.

🔧 Torn or painted-over seals are among the most frequent fire door findings. A strip that's damaged can't do its job when the heat arrives.

👻 A fire door wedged open for the Halloween party is still a wedged fire door. If it can't close, it can't hold smoke back. 🌐 protestesltd.co.uk/fire-door… 📞 01604 696113

Fire door marked "replace"? Look at where the fault is. Closer, hinges, seals, gaps: repair like for like. Core, warped leaf, no test evidence: replace. protestesltd.co.uk/fire-door…

🎃 The office Halloween party was set up on Thursday afternoon. By Friday morning the fire door to the stairwell had paper bats taped across the glass, a ghost sheet on the handle and a chair holding it open.

📋 If a door has to stay open for an event, a hold-open device that releases when the alarm sounds is how it's done properly. A chair or a wedge never is.
