There might something I didn't understood because I am still learning the game, but I think that Assemble Counter (back L+A) is one of the strongest defensive mechanic I have ever seen in this type of game. It beats almost every single mixup attempt, and has an auto-option select with the armored overhead if you don't do it in the right direction. You can’t safe jump it, you can't grab it. It’s always available, even with 0 assist and even disasembled. I've heard about ways to counter it by tagging but it looks really character specific. Of course you can bait it, but it requires passivity in game where taking turns is already difficult. I am not complaining, as I said I am still learning and I may change my mind with more experience, but that's my early feeling.
