I recently discovered that I had become the thing that I have smirked at for so many decades. That thing is… old and out of touch.
I’d like to thank my 15 year-old daughter for bringing this important fact to my attention.
It’s crazy that in America in 2026 we are still dealing with anti-semitism. Glad to see @USAO_UT Holyoak taking it seriously.
Today, along with @USAO_UT Melissa Holyoak, @CivilRights announced charges, including a hate crime, against a man who attempted to bomb a synagogue. If you target people of faith or houses of worship with violence, you will be caught & prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!

It’s no accident. Utah is amazing because of amazing people, a gracious and kind culture, and a heritage that is generations old.
I often see people unhappy with current politics or policy say Europe does transportation, healthcare, or society better, and that if we'd just be more like Europe, a lot of our problems would be solved (you know who you are). Europe has problems too, and many of the ones they're supposed to be solving aren't solved there either.
We'd be better off recognizing what we have here. A "can do" culture that tackles problems and creates opportunity built this nation. We should be grateful for it, not cynical about it.
