Defense lawyers representing five activists on trial in Germany have sought the recusal of the presiding judge, accusing her of bias after the court rejected expert testimony on Israeli arms manufacturer Elbit Systems and its role in Israel's genocide in Gaza.
Known as the Ulm Five, the activists are accused of breaking into an Elbit Systems facility in Ulm in September 2025 and damaging its premises and office equipment. They face charges over an alleged attack on the company's Tactical Data Links laboratory.
The defence had sought to call Israeli weapons expert Dr Shir Hever to explain how technology developed at the facility was connected to Israeli military operations in Gaza. However, the court rejected his testimony, arguing that the software developed at the site had no connection to Israel's offensive. Everyone living in tents has been flooded, losing everything they had: blankets, mattresses, food, and whatever little belongings they owned.
Tonight, people were screaming as floodwaters swallowed their tents. This is a war no less devastating than the missiles. Here, everything is being destroyed by drops of rain.
Imagine fleeing bombs, only to find yourself fighting for survival against the rain and floods.
Gaza needs urgent help. The people living in these tents have nowhere safe to go. Please, do not look away. Share their suffering. Let the world hear their cries.
