Started with some slides for AutoAdsorbate-ended up with an animated deep dive into surface site detection.
It works on any surface, no bulk symmetry needed.
Here’s what this one-liner really does:

Marcelle Spera and her team from the
@Uni_Stuttgart presented a poster at the 𝟑𝟑𝐫𝐝 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐬 (𝐄𝐒𝐀𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒) on using DVC to manage and track changes in molecular dynamics simulations.
By applying DVC to their molecular simulations, the team could version important inputs like:
🔹Molecular structures.
🔹Force field parameters.
🔹Initial configurations.
This allows for better reproducibility and transparency when running complex simulations.
Computational research often involves iterating on models and data, making version control critical. But traditional tools aren't always a great fit.
Kudos to Marcelle and her team for pushing the boundaries of what's possible in molecular simulations! 🧬💡

Room-temperature ionic liquids with DFT? Too slow. RTILs with classical force fields? Diffusivity underestimated. RTILs with #MachineLearning potentials: works like a charm (pun intended)! Thanks to @MoritzRSchfer1 @ICP_Stuttgart @PythonFZ @spp2363 See: pubs.rsc.org/en/content/arti…

I'm biased as a co-author, but this is a must-read on how good ML interatomic potentials can be on materials and applications beyond the limits of their training set.
Open the SI. I dare you. 😉
