Watch @donnymac go from idea to a working app to a talking plant - all in minutes 🌱 This is what makes building with VENTUNO Q fun.
I'm no developer, but I took a stab at building on @arduino VENTUNO Q. With a little help, I even got a plant talking.
Watch the video, then comment on our YouTube with what you'd build for a chance to win one yourself!

We kept our commitment to bring you the Arduino VENTUNO Q at an introductory price of under $300 for our launch. Thanks to your incredible support, the board sold out twice! Due to rising component costs, VENTUNO Q moves to its official retail price of $399 starting today, October 19th, though continues to deliver a powerful computer for Physical AI and robotics at an unprecedented value.

Are experiences more important than benchmarks!? 😱
Qualcomm expert Carina Affinito thinks speed and performance don’t paint the full picture for the end user.
As a developer, what do you think? Is it about the experiences, or do specs take priority?
Headed to #PyTorchCon? We too! 🙋 Visit us at booth D6 and don’t miss these events:

AI software that scales across hardware. That's the conversation we're bringing to #PyTorchCon - stop by to meet @Qualcomm and @Modular experts.
New chips are shipping faster than ever before, but the ecosystem is being held back by having to rewrite and then re-debug the same code over & over again.
@clattner_llvm CEO and Co-founder at @Modular and EVP of Advanced AI Software & Platforms at @Qualcomm, will deliver a keynote at PyTorch Conference North America about an open software platform for heterogeneous compute powered by Mojo and MAX.
PyTorch has always been the place where the best models come together, and now there's a way to get those models onto all kinds of hardware.
If you're interested in Al and compute, join us at the PyTorch Conference in San Jose, CA. Register now: hubs.la/Q04v4SL60

One year in, and the creativity of the @arduino community continues to amaze us. Thank you for building, sharing, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with open source and edge AI 🚀
Happy first birthday, Arduino UNO Q! 🎉
A year ago, we shared two pieces of news at once. Arduino was joining the Qualcomm Technologies family, and the UNO Q was on its way.
The promise was simple: bring powerful computing and edge AI to makers, students, and professionals, without losing the openness, creativity, and joy that make Arduino what it is.
12 months later, you have responded to our biggest announcement ever in ways we could not have scripted. You’ve built. You’ve experimented. You’ve pushed boundaries. And you’ve shown us what happens when you put new tools in the hands of a curious, creative community.
Today, we’re looking back at year one and celebrating everything you’ve made possible. Thank you for being part of it. This is just the beginning!

almost none of the data from real robot deployments is making it back into training.
the evals aren't standardized. the annotation pipelines aren't shared. the retraining infrastructure is being built privately. and staying there.
that's the conversation we're not having publicly.

📲🎮𖣘🆒 Can we make classic cooling systems smarter using edge AI and physical simulations?
During the severe heatwaves early this summer, I noticed how ubiquitous ceiling fans remain in historic markets, public buildings, and homes. Despite being cost-effective, they lack smart airflow optimization compared to modern AC systems. To bridge this gap, I built a complete, end-to-end proof-of-concept system powered by edge AI and local vision-language models (VLMs).
Here is a look at the engineering stack behind the project:
📐 Custom Differential Bevel Gear Mechanism:
Designed a custom 2-fan setup moving 180° vertically and 360° horizontally to enable dynamic airflow control. Built on a scaled physical setup with an IKEA LACK table base, mirrored perfectly as a 3D digital twin in Fusion 360.
📡 2D LiDAR to 3D Obstacle Mapping:
Integrated an RPLIDAR A1M8-R6 to map real-time indoor obstacles (walls, open doors, furniture) and converted 2D scan points into a 3D obstacle map for dynamic boundary collision tracking.
🎮 Physics and Airflow Simulation in @unity:
Utilized Unity as a real-time rendering and simulation engine to trace air displacement routes (trails), capturing frame-by-frame airflow dynamics across different mechanical fan configurations.
🧠 On-Device Vision-Language Models (VLMs):
Deployed local open-weight VLMs (Qwen2.5-VL-7B-Instruct and Qwen3-VL-8B-Instruct) to evaluate visual simulation frames and output optimal fan configurations for maximum cooling efficiency, completely offline.
💻 Edge Computing on @Qualcomm Dragonwing IQ-9075 EVK:
Ran the complete stack on a single edge platform by distributing workloads across hardware blocks:
🔵 Kryo CPU: LiDAR calculations and processing
🔵 Adreno GPU: Unity scene and airflow simulation rendering
🔵 Hexagon NPU: Local VLM inference via Qualcomm Docker LLM/VLM container
📲 Embedded Control and Custom PCB Design:
🟢 Built a custom 4-layer PCB around an @arduino Nano 33 BLE to manage stepper drivers, DC motors, encoders, optical speed modules, and lighting.
🟢 Developed an Android app with embedded Flask middleware, keeping the user in the loop for safe manual overrides and VLM prompt interactions.
By pairing lightweight spatial hardware with Edge AI, we can unlock significant energy-wise and coverage-wise cooling performance in everyday appliances without relying on cloud infrastructure.
