🚀 New paper out in @PhysRevResearch
Grégoire F. M. Tomassi & Daniël Veldhuizen at @QuidantL observe ~1000× accelerated state expansion of #levitatednanoparticles in just 260 μs. Supported by Oriol Romero-Isart at @ICFO

🚀 Just like atoms, metasurfaces can be pushed or pulled by light. At @QuidantL, we demonstrate attractive and repulsive optical forces using engineered meta-atoms. Check out nature.com/articles/s41467-0… in @NatureComms by @AdeelAfridi10 and @BrunoMelo1234! @ETH_en

Two new papers out 🚨
In the first we present deterministic control over the sign of optical forces exerted on a metasurface integrated on a suspended silicon nanomembrane realizing both attractive and repulsive forces

In the second we demonstrate a platform for multi-parametric analysis of aptamer sequence design with high temporal resolution. We show using FRET and droplets that aptamer-serotonin binding is a two step process and can follow different pathways.

🔥 This work shows that small fever-like increases in temperature can boost immune cell speed and efficiency, with myosin II and actomyosin contractility playing a key role.
Congrats to everyone involved!

Measuring temperature at nanoscale is tough. If the system is still evolving it is tougher!
Our new paper in Science Advances highlight how we can measure it in non-steady-state:
