10 months ago I quit my job.
I didn’t get fired. I was the best they had.
I just got tired of putting in more than I received, and I knew I could do better.
So I left.
It was my first time building a SaaS in 7 years.
I built an AI video editor that keeps people watching longer.
It reached 2k MAU.
autoeditor hit 8176 pageviews last month.
only 201 files got uploaded.
the rest bounced.
the gap is the product.
fixing the upload flow rn.
the biggest lie in ai video is that model quality drives signups.
my landing page gets 8176 views a month.
only 52 people actually sign up.
everyone says distribution is the new product.
my data says the funnel is broken.
autoeditor hit 8155 views last month.
only 201 completed an upload.
the upload funnel is broken.
459 people open the file picker.
394 fail to edit.
325 finish the job.
i built autoeditor for 2000 creators.
the model works.
autoeditor hit 8,111 views last month.
454 people opened the upload picker.
200 actually finished uploading.
the gap is where i live rn.
393 edits failed last month.
325 finished.
70 people opened the file picker and left.
the tool works.
the friction does not.
i hate being right about that.
everyone says creator tools are dead.
my data says the opposite.
autoeditor saw 454 people open the upload picker.
only 200 actually finished the upload.
393 people tried to edit their files.
123 finished.
270 gave up.
the error wasn't the ai model.
it was the file format.
i spent 12 hours fixing one button.
it was the upload picker.
655 people saw the page.
476 picked a style.
only 200 finished the upload.
founders.
stop overthinking how to get your first users.
distribution is just laying the pipe
from the water source to your house.
no pipe = no water from faucet.
pipe gets the water to your house.
like how seo brings users to your apps
founders.
here's a tip:
before launching a new feature throw it into a sandbox and let ai, run a few tests
saves you an absurd amount of time
i hit 1063 unique visitors on autoeditor last month.
only 63 finished the oauth login.
940 people looked at the code, clicked around, and ghosted me.
spend 3 weeks on distribution? no.
i spent 3 days.
onlyfoundrs just hit 2083 views last month.
887 unique humans.
the code took a weekend.
317 jobs finished last month.
393 edits failed.
i fixed the failure today.
atlas mode now recuts the clip if the first pass drops a beat.
393 users tried to edit a video on autoeditor.
393 failed.
120 finished.
the code works.
the file picker doesn't.
i hate that the bottleneck is a button.
October was actually crazy.
facefrenzy → 500 daily users
onlyfoundrs → 100 daily users
autoeditor → 70 daily users
still early. still messy.
but these are real people showing up every day.
honestly still feels a little insane.
