ICC Judge Guillou in @volkskrant:
“We've gone on with our work undaunted, and we will continue to do so. But it potentially has a chilling effect. If this can happen to judges, it can happen to parliamentarians, ministers, journalists and NGO staff..."

We've filed for a preliminary injunction in our case against the Trump administration over its #ICC-related sanctions regime. We are asking the judge to suspend the sanctions regime while our case proceeds.

Supporters of Karim Khan, the ousted International Criminal Court prosecutor, tried to change the subject from his misconduct to Israel. "Palestinian representatives were quick to push back on that narrative. 'The vote...to remove the Prosecutor was not a political proxy vote on any Situation before the ICC,'" a Palestinian ambassador said. "Khan’s removal will have no immediate impact on the arrest warrants [for Israeli officials] which can only be withdrawn by ICC judges."

Concerning news: US "State Department Launches Campaign to Dismantle International Criminal Court’s Threat to American Sovereignty"—reports that the US Government is considering, inter alia: encouraging action by US partners to "reject the ICC’s purported authority to prosecute American officials and servicemen"; "Increased scrutiny" of countries that recognize jurisdiction of the ICC over potential crimes by US nationals; additional "visa revocations and travel bans for ICC personnel"; and "Increased sanctions against the ICC and affiliated organizations". state.gov/releases/office-of…

A #CSW70 event co-hosted by the BIC highlighted an initiative to establish an International Anti-Corruption Court (IACC), which would strive to address cases of state-level corruption. This issue would be tackled through seeking justice for those affected and in the rebuilding of societies after the fact.
This proposal articulated that there can be "clear structures based on shared, underlying values, translated into the fabric of an institution."Justice is expressed in a community’s freedom to conceive and pursue its own path of development, connecting local initiatives to international frameworks for sustainable change. Ensuring effective mechanisms to address corruption can be an essential part of advancing justice.
This initiative highlighted how a small group of committed individuals can initiate efforts to address injustice and widen the circle of collaboration around a shared cause.

Today, I’m releasing the City’s preliminary budget. After years of fiscal mismanagement, we’re staring at a $5.4 billion budget gap — and two paths.
One: Albany can raise taxes on the ultra-wealthy and the most profitable corporations and address the fiscal imbalance between our city and state.
The other, a last resort: balance the budget on the backs of working people using the only tools at the City's disposal.
The first path matches a structural crisis with a sustainable and fair solution. I know where I stand.
New Yorkers voted for bold change and competent leadership. We will deliver both, and we look forward to partnering with Albany to protect working New Yorkers.
