"Habari yako" from📍Zanzibar, Tanzania! In Nungwi, fishing and dhow boat building are central to life, while the island’s fertile land yields spices like cloves and nutmeg. Zanzibar’s rich mix of African, Arab, Persian, and Indian cultures is reflected in its warm hospitality and relaxed nature—hakuna matata and pole pole 🌿 The Rotary Club of Zanzibar Stonetown, founded in 2005, has 15 members supporting this vibrant community.

This morning, while in Zanzibar, I had the honour of visiting the Rotary Club of Zanzibar Stone Town; the only Rotary club in the city. We reflected on the club’s performance and discussed opportunities for growth, especially in membership and giving to The Rotary Foundation. Strong clubs build strong communities. Let us continue to grow our impact together. #DGClubVisits #RotaryD9214 #UniteForGood #TogetherOneActAtATime

Before you check your phone, check your Cancer Run kit. 😂 If it’s still in the corner looking fresh, that’s not the kit’s fault. 😭 Get up. Wear it. Find your shoes. Your bed has had enough of you.. #CancerRunUg26

WHY WE RUN: BUILDING A STRONGER FUTURE FOR CANCER CARE Today evening we welcomed members of the Rotary Club of Kitende for a cancer activation run and an important conversation on the growing need to strengthen cancer care in Uganda. The session was led by our CEO @AndrewSekitolek , who shared insights into the evolving cancer burden, the importance of prevention and early detection, and the urgent need for investment in modern cancer treatment and diagnostic infrastructure. The message was clear: cancer care is time-sensitive, and strengthening treatment capacity must go hand in hand with strengthening diagnosis, infrastructure, technology and access. The discussion highlighted the role of modern technologies such as linear accelerators in delivering more precise radiotherapy, as well as the need for advanced diagnostic technologies such as PET scanning to support comprehensive cancer care. The CEO also highlighted the significant investment required to establish modern cancer services including specialised treatment facilities, CT simulation, brachytherapy, radiation-shielded infrastructure and specialist care. But infrastructure alone is not enough. We need strong partnerships, sustained investment, awareness, screening, early detection and mechanisms that can help make cancer treatment more accessible to patients and families. That is why we run. We run to raise awareness. We run to mobilise resources. We run to strengthen cancer infrastructure. We run to support access to treatment. We run for patients and families. We run for lives. As part of the activation, the Rotary Club of Kitende was also taken on a guided tour of the Rotary Cancer Centre at Nsambya, with the tour led by Dr. Clara, Head of Department. The centre, established in 2015 with support from Rotary, represents the power of partnerships in strengthening cancer care. The visit offered an opportunity to see firsthand how investments made through partnerships can translate into real healthcare infrastructure and services. The work continues. The need is still great. And together, we can do more. Keep running. Keep supporting. Keep making noise for cancer care. #NsambyaHospital #CancerRun2026

Last week, I undertook a Basic First Aid Training courtesy of the Uganda @UgandaRedCross. Here are a few key facts I learned during the training: Over 60% of emergency deaths can be prevented with timely first aid response. Bleeding control, CPR, and shock management are the top three life-saving skills every person should know. The first 3–5 minutes after an incident are the most critical for survival. Anyone can become a first responder with the right training—no medical background required. I’m grateful for the opportunity and committed to applying these skills to promote safety in my community. #FirstAid #UgandaRedCross
