HR confronted me. I didn't know birthdays were part of my job description.
Yesterday was one of my colleague's birthdays, and the company had organised a small celebration after work. My shift ended at 5 PM, so I packed my things and left because I had somewhere important to be. This morning, HR called me into her office and started questioning why I didn't stay for the celebration. I reminded her that I wasn't being paid to attend birthday parties, but she insisted that I was becoming antisocial and making other employees uncomfortable. I thought that was the end of it until she texted me later that evening.

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost three years, and I honestly thought we were building something serious. Last night, his mother called me unexpectedly and asked if I was aware that her son had been secretly sending money to another woman and paying her rent. I was confused because he had recently told me he was struggling financially and couldn't even help with some of our shared expenses. His mother then told me something even worse. Apparently, the woman was pregnant and had been introduced to some members of his family as his fiancée. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I confronted him immediately, but he refused to answer my calls. This afternoon, his mother sent me a long text explaining everything she had discovered.
