I think it would be fruitful to dispel the binary, “which side are you on: freedom or public safety?” For example, I can try to recognize and address manipulation by government or corporations and still seek out those with recognized expertise
It is always interesting to me how folks like to talk about man as “masculine” (Eg “he’s an Alpha male”) or unmasculine (“he’s too girly”.)
I’ve lived long enough to focus instead on whether a man acts like a good guy or not.

You can’t hope for better than that.

On a day when my waves resemble the gales of November, I ask...
Does any one know where the love of God goes when the waves turn the minutes to hours?
Rest in peace, Gordon Lightfoot, you will always have a place here. It's been good to know ya. 🙏🌊

Its been my experience that trauma can result in two types of mindsets:
1. I went through trauma and fairness means others shouldn’t endure what I went through.
2. I went through trauma and fairness means that others should go through it as well.
Irony: someone who values independent thinking spends all their time repeating and reposting the words of others.

WTAF? Make my account less secure in order to keep using it? Does not compute. Perhaps this is the end of the line for me. I don’t have the patience for nonsense any more.
A coworker with a former company once told me, “when we heard you had you left, we were quite saddened. Each time you walked into our department, you brought this vibrant energy with you that lifted us all up.”
That really touched me.
A surgeon once told me, “everyone outside of the medical world thinks that scrubs are fun to wear. But they never get tight. As you get wider, they accommodate you. But sometimes we need little reminders that we are going down a wrong path.” #MedTwitter
Emphasizing the human connection must be owned by the entire workforce, and not just delegated to HR. Similarly with culture, moral and ethics. @EllynJShook1
Food for thought: Contrary to popular opinion, "culture doesn't happen in space and place," says @EllynJShook1 of @Accenture. Data shows that more in-person workers feel the LESS connected than remote workers.
Thirty years ago, I read an obituary in a paper that had a significant impact on my life. The man was described as “the kind of person who always seemed glad to see you.” And so I’ve always strived to be that kind of person.
A cab driver once asked me, “are you a believer?” I responded, “I believe in kindness and compassion and trying to help others without keeping track. And I try also not to label people based on how they look or what they believe.” That seems to satisfy him (but who knows?)
It’s been fascinating to discover what goes into planning the world’s largest marathon.
Any organization encounters potential hazards but this mural in Harlem reminded me all things are possible if people of good will work together and elevate one another.

Dad struggled with tobacco addiction when he was young, so I’ve never smoked one cigarette in my life.
Dad developed Type II diabetes when he was in his early 60’s, so I adjusted my lifestyle to keep my weight under control.#medtwitter
For #ThrowbackThursday
Dedicated to every parent who tried desperately to get their child to smile for the family photograph. 😝
Me, “Why did you decide to run a marathon?”
Him, “I wanted to inspire my children.”
