Word on the street is that the mayor’s administration is trying to end the affordable housing trust fund. That’s funny, they want to end now after Council put in 10 million. What is the agenda here folks. @CBS6 @8NEWS @NBC12 @RTDNEWS how can they sunset a city ordinance?

Makes me wonder if this is why The mayor wants to move away from the 30% AMI requirements of the affordable housing trust fund that @pastorhodge and @RISCjustice has been pushing them to transfer millions to and more towards “housing bonds” Bonds have been going to high evictors
*THREAD* A pet project of mine is tracing affordable housing subsidies to the high evicting landlords in Richmond. Almost all affordable housing tools being used nowadays are based on outdated 1986 policies that were designed to deal with White Flight from urban areas.

It is comical to me that Mayor Levar Stoney accused RISC of promoting over policing when we advocated for social services, substance, and housing interventions, but he is using the last bit of ARPA funds ($300k) for police shields and cop stuff. Make it make sense

Pre-pandemic we had an overflow room with a live feed for nights like this. The last time this happened, @RISCjustice packed the house. Same tonight. 🤔 My #rvacouncil contacts are don't know why this happened again. Let's please prepare for big public comment nights. 🐝

“The best time to fund affordable housing was 15 years ago. The next best time is today. What's going on is that RISC has a major action calling city council out for not transferring the money they promised for the affordable housing trust fund that they used to justify expanding the tax abatement program. 200ppl showed up for answers. President Jones said let em in!
I hear there's plenty of room for all of us in #rvacouncil chambers. What's up with that? I'm standing at the front of a line blocked by security and a locked door🐝

Speakers from @RISCjustice, including Marty Wegbreit, are here to discuss the affordable housing trust fund - $2M+ should be in a special fund that should be moved into the AHTF. Marty is telling #rvacouncil to follow their own law and fund affordable housing🐝

There might be a strategy that some cities are using called Group Violence Intervention that could really help a city like Richmond. @RISCjustice knows all about it. Why don’t we meet? @CBS6 @8NEWS @NBC12

Clear as day how structural racism and decades of divestment primed the pump for predatory reinvestment and gentrification. And the kicker is that the city incentivizes and aids this kind of development, all while officials tout their commitment to equity and affordable housing.
