Fair to say this wouldn’t exist if AI coding wasn’t a thing. No one would’ve taken the time to do it.

BREAKING: California voters just passed Prop 37. Buyers of newly built homes can now put down 3% instead of 20%. How: the state lends you the other 17% as a second mortgage, funded by up to $25 billion in bonds. On an $800,000 home that's $24,000 down instead of $160,000.

Can't stop thinking how much stuff Jev is doing to save AI engineers asses from stupid systems design patterns while the rest of the domain keeps pushing tool calling loops everywhere
Why don't we at TypeSafe call Jev a decision model? If you think of Jev's questions as making *decisions*, I believe you'll use it at the wrong layer of abstraction and your reliability will suffer. I wrote all about this on our site 🧵👇

there are roughly five fundamental relationships that shape your life: 1. money, which is your relationship with resources. 2. time, which is your relationship with attention & priorities. 3. health, which is your relationship with your body & mind. 4. people, which is your relationship with other humans, mediated through communication. 5. knowledge, which is your relationship with the world & your understanding of it. so of course the labs will build in these territories & if you thought otherwise or had any doubts you do not understand product & product strategy at all.

I can confidently say that humans were not very good at writing secure infrastructure. The endstate will be hypersecure infrastructure and software for all, but we're going to go through some turbulence before we reach that.

Some bugs almost explain themselves. Every `/admin/**` endpoint relied on a single check: if (event.url.pathname.startsWith("/admin/")) -> requireAdminSecret() Bypass this string comparison, and the entire administrative API became exposed.

The new Discord client using less RAM is just part of the story. Clicking around feels instant, I can't go back. Check out the boot time.
We've been early adopters of Rust since 2018 and a lot of our infra, voice tech, and even some of the current client is already Rust, the holy grail was getting the whole client there. That means Electron goes away, and so does React Native, mobile keeps native UI but shares app code with desktop via Rust. We hope to get it into testing with users soon™. (And it's not Tauri, it's GPUI, so good guess everyone.) Alright, back to staring at the WoW Forever login screen.

Discord is rebuilding its apps from scratch in Rust! Discord CTO Stanislav Vishnevskiy confirmed they are ditching Electron and React Native. The new client is fully written in Rust and uses GPUI for rendering. Early preview show massive performance gains: - RAM usage dropped to ~290 MB (down from ~2 GB) - Single, lightweight process instead of endless Chromium helpers

I used to decide whether to post in Spanish or English depending on the topic. Now X automatically translates my posts, and the engagement comes in from more than 10 languages. Kudos to the X team for building a truly global community. Languages have always been both a way to communicate and a barrier. Now the barrier is gone.

Meet Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash ⚡️ We’ve made the model more cost-effective, bumped the video generation and editing limit up to 15 seconds, and made updates to how scenes hold together over time. We've also given character speech an upgrade, reduced visual glitches like jump cuts, and made sure the model stays even truer to any reference assets you upload. So… what does all of that actually mean for you? It gives you more room to tell your story. With up to 15 seconds to work with, you have more flexibility to create what you need — videos look more cinematic and smooth, offering stronger consistency that keeps objects anchored from start to finish. And when characters speak, the dialogue sounds more fluid and natural. Creators and everyday users can start directing scenes and multi-turn edits in @FlowbyGoogle, generating 15-second clips at no additional cost in Google Vids, or creating 15-second videos in the @GeminiApp. Plus, for developers and businesses building with the API, we've dropped the price by 30% from the previous generation, making it available at just $0.07 per second for 720p video. Watch the model in action as it turns a single style frame into a 4-shot, 15-second macro science explainer of a living beehive ↓
