We are delighted to announce the winners of our inaugural Military Police Dog of the Year Award. The award was presented by Group Captain Lee Wales, Station Commander at @RAFNortholt, to @RoyalAirForce Police Dog Paul, an arms and explosives search dog, alongside his handler Sergeant Craig Roberts. Since becoming operational in 2022, Paul has had an exceptional career, recording six operational finds. Thanks to his instinct, training and dedication, Paul has undoubtedly saved lives and prevent serious life-threatening incidents. Paul was originally due to receive his award at our annual ceremony in September but was sadly unable to attend due to a ruptured cruciate ligament. Following a full recovery, we were thrilled to finally present him with this well-deserved recognition at RAF Northolt. Group Captain Lee Wales shared this message: “Congratulations to MWD Paul and his handler, Sgt Craig Roberts. It is a proud moment to see the commitment and dedication of our Royal Air Force Police dogs recognised in this way. The recognition from the Thin Blue Paw means a great deal to us." Congratulations to RAF Police Dog Paul and Sgt Roberts on a truly outstanding achievement. 👏✈️🐶💙🐾🇬🇧🚔

It was a scary start to the month, as retired police dog Riley was rushed to the vets with sepsis. Riley served as a general purpose police dog with Derbyshire Police until his retirement in 2022, when fellow police officer Scott gave him a forever home. Scott said: “Riley was dying in front of us. We rushed him to the vets and had a heartbreaking conversation. I contacted the Thin Blue Paw and within five minutes they were there for us.” Riley underwent life-saving surgery on 6th December to treat the sepsis and clean the wound. Against the odds, he was able to come home. The treatment to save Riley’s life cost over £7,000, which was funded in full by the Foundation. Now back where he belongs, Riley is recovering with his family and is able to enjoy another very special Christmas together. 🎄💙 It truly is a Christmas miracle for this brave boy. 🐾✨

We’re thrilled to announce Staffordshire Police Dog Unit as our 2025 Thin Blue Paw Police Dog Team of the Year! 🏆 Last August, PDs Kev, Bones, Vixen, Maddie, Ebony & Delta faced 8 hrs of violence in Tamworth but held the line. 👏💙🚔🇬🇧 #ThinBluePawAwards

Our 2025 Thin Blue Paw Rising Star Award goes to PD Louie and PC Cuthbertson from Durham Constabulary. 🏆 Once a stray, Louie became the force’s first digital detection dog. Despite tragedy close to home, they both uncovered vital evidence that helped secure justice. 💙🐶🐾🇬🇧
