I like much Red Death is an homage to Red Skull (among others) and he's meant to be a villian that shows there are just some really bad dudes out there.

Wife & I have been pretty stern with our oldest son lately, and he’s been getting really discouraged, saying he thinks he’s never good, & we’ve been struggling to find a balance with that.
But yesterday, I said something very out of line to him, & when I came to terms with it, I walked him into another & told him that what I said was bad, that I should control what I say when I am angry, and that I was really sorry.
He was confused about this, so I said to him, “Well, I did something wrong. I expect you to apologize when you do something wrong, so I would be a hypocrite if I didn’t do the same. I need to say sorry too sometimes.”
He’s been in a way better mood ever since and has been way more receptive to me & his mom. He didn’t immediately become a perfect kid (I still had to correct him a few times that night), but it was like he understood he’s not the only one who screws up sometimes.
That’s why, among many other reasons, I think it’s vital to apologize to your kids when you do something wrong.
Crossbones just yelling "YEAH CREEL! BEAT HIS ASS!"
And just like that, poof, Mark Waid is gone.😔Bummer.

All right Zdarsky. People haven't loved your cap run so much but if this is how you're going to write the Red Skull it could, you get some respect.
I really hope there is some idea that this is all skull just getting back at Doom for his one world under doom thing and is getting him to take a poision chalice.

It’s wild to me that of all things, the CW shows are getting a second look from some people because they’re so disappointed with Gunn’s DCU.
Yes, my wife had me watch Arrow with her, & I get why people loved it. Great show for being in the CW. We also tried most of their other shows. Garbage.
So it’ll be really funny to me if CW gets some sort of Prequel trilogy treatment.
I like Shmidt's complete disdain for other villians. That he tolerates them even though they're more powerful than him. It makes him enduring as a villian.
Also that image comes from a cover for a comic called Red Skull Incarnate, written by Greg Pak. Man, a time before Trump...I wonder if Pak would stand by these words today or not.
Honestly, I'm starting to find him one of my top villains too. It seemed cliché since he's a nazi villian but that sort of makes him great as a villian. He's unapologetically a villian that embraces one of the world's worst ideologies.
Everyone has that perfect, favorite villain. Mine? Why, it’s the Red Skull! It’s not enough to kill Cap, the Skull has to toy with him first, ultimately leading to his own defeat…Every time! & you know what? Skull don’t care, cause he’s gonna toy with Cap again, to see if this time it works!
