A pre-Anglo-Saxon age when the whole of what is today England spoke the 🏴 Brythonic / Celtic language!
Place names confirm it. Many river names (Thames, Avon, Severn, Trent, Derwent) and names like London, York and Leeds have Brittonic roots.

I wasn’t expecting walking down the middle of the newly pedestrianised Oxford Street to feel so lovely (never a word I’ve used for Oxford St before!). It instantly feels like something that should have been done years ago.
Well done, @MayorofLondon, for finally getting it done.

Richard Tice claims two police forces “are investigating ITV and their reporters for possible criminal offences against Reform UK”. The public record doesn’t support that.
Both forces have only confirmed they are assessing or reviewing complaints that Reform UK itself made, which is routine triage of any report and not a formal investigation.
He also merges the two forces into one story. The electoral allegations sit with Hampshire, while the Met’s matter reportedly doesn’t involve electoral offences at all.
The phrase “offences against Reform UK” is odd too, since the canvassing complaint is that ITV paid reporters to campaign for Reform, not against it.
Finally, “they will have to answer to the police, courts and Electoral Commission” presents outcomes as settled when nothing has been established and ITV denies wrongdoing.
The effect is to turn Reform’s own complaint into the appearance of police action, lending it an authority it hasn’t earned.
You cannot trust a word these increasingly desperate chancers say.
Two police forces, Met Police and Hampshire Police, are investigating ITV and their reporters for possible criminal offences against Reform UK
Scrutiny is fine, but journalists don’t get free pass to break the law

In 1958, David Isom, 19, broke the color line in a Florida segregated public pool. It resulted in officials closing the facility.
On June 8, 1958, a city manager in St. Petersburg, Florida, ordered the closure of a public indoor swimming pool after a Black 19-year-old named David Isom used the facility.
In April 1957, St. Petersburg opened its segregated public swimming facilities to Black residents after the city ruled in favor of six Black community members who had filed a suit against the city government over its discriminatory practices.
Despite the ruling, St. Petersburg’s facilities remained segregated by practice for well over a year. Denied access to the public Spa Pool and Spa Beach downtown, Black residents were forced to travel to Tampa Bay where a much smaller, less well-maintained facility nicknamed the “South Mole” was open to them.
On June 8, Mr. Isom arrived at the all-white Spa Pool and purchased an entry ticket. There were roughly 50 white bathers in the pool when he arrived. He swam for less than a half hour and then continued with his day. “I just feel that it’s not a privilege to use the pool, but a right,” Mr. Isom stated.
After Mr. Isom’s departure, the pool manager promptly announced that the Spa Pool and the adjoining Spa Beach would both be closed immediately because of Mr. Isom’s swim, following orders from the city manager, Ross Windom. Both facilities remained closed until the following week, when the city council reopened them.

This is not normal.

F/O Ludwik Witold Paszkiewicz claimed the first victory for the legendary Polish No. 303 Squadron, shooting down a German aircraft during a training flight. Having broken the rules, he was reprimanded on his return to RAF Northolt - and then congratulated!
He was killed in a crash-landing at Crowhurst Farm, near Borough Green, in 1940.
The memory of Paszkiewicz and the other 53 airmen will be honoured at our annual joint celebration of Polish Independence Day and British Remembrance Sunday at Northwood Cemetery in London, the second-largest Polish military cemetery in the UK.
We organise the ceremony in cooperation with the Polish Educational Society (Polska Macierz Szkolna) and Bentley Priory Museum Volunteers.

I have to challenge this.
The huge “dust cloud” that was thrown up around Brexit 10 years ago (both pre- & post-) was because businesses didn’t know the destination and what the rules would be.
Joining the EU, rules are clear.
Other nations don’t have “dust clouds” on joining.
