Eshet Chayil
Known to many as the infamous “Proverbs 31 Woman.”
Translations often render her as “a good wife” – but this is not who Eshet Chayil is.
She is “a woman of valor”
She is strength, power, might. A WARRIOR.
Eshet Chayil is not something you do. It is WHO you are.
A happy surprise, it turned out the be proofs day! 2 years since submission and 1.5 years since acceptance... it's really happening y'all!
This was a helpful read!
Excellent and correct explanation of the paper being passed around which is being misrepresented as a "take-down" of Van der Kolk's "The Body Keeps the Score". If one has studied his actual work and the modalities developed as a result, it's intellectually dishonest to see it as anything more than a continued refinement of our understanding of trauma. Not a threat, but a helpful way of deepening understanding.
"What the authors are objecting to is not really Van der Kolk’s clinical model, but an increasingly literalized cultural interpretation of it."

Yesterday, I surpsied my class with a game of kahoot! to review important concepts. I have a great class with good engagement, but the energy yesterday was off the charts. They loved it and were much more animated the rest of our time. We laughed AND we identified areas to study.
Grateful to have the opportunity to write for a special issue of Currents in Theology and Mission, which aims to read with characters from the margins. My paper is titled, "A Crip Reading of the Bleeding Woman": Disability, Trauma, & Embodiment in Luke 8:43-48. I'm very excited!
Congrats to all my friends whose papers have been accepted for SBL! I'm feeling the FOMO as I did not submit (though hopefully still attending). However, I have gotten initial drafts of two chapters written for my disst, which feels more worthy of my focus right now 💪
I heard that some Gen Z'ers at my presentation said I was, and I quote, "a vibe."
I need this on a shirt. Stat. That way I can ride this high for waaaaay longer 🫠

I had a BLAST of a final evening at #sblaar25 with friends!
Winding up to present on a disabled spirit in Mark! #sblaar25
Lunch via Eataly! Burrata with heirloom tomatoes and kalamata olives, and fresh foccaccia

This is ridiculous. Can't even make up his mind about conquering thru violent force and buying/trading, and signing treaties. Are we conquerors or settlers? Buyers or political deal makers? I guess I just hate America, apparently.

Slowly getting rdy for SBL = I am not ready.
Presenting my paper on Sunday eve at the Healthcare and Disability section, titled: "Father, Son, and Speechless Spirit" -- come listen to me ramble about Mark 9!

Y'all. I still need to make a few edits, but I have a paper being published in Apocrypha 2025. I wrote on L. 98 in the Gospel of Thomas, which I have titled: "The Parable of the Unprepared Killer and the Kingdom of God."
Which I affectionately call: only murders in the parables.
