You cannot use law to take back what was stolen with guns. Especially if the thieves wrote that law.

The thing about imperialism is that it is ubiquitous and impossible to avoid.
Nigerians who think they can have intelligent discussions around politics, economics and business without acknowledging imperialism are just like a castrated man who wants to marry a wife and have kids, but doesn't want to acknowledge his condition.
I'm sorry, but just because you're in denial, or the subject makes you uncomfortable, or you don't want to upset your white friends and investors by talking about it does not mean that this 800-foot elephant in the room is going to disappear.
The imperial system you live under is why you eat imported rice and your bread is made with imported wheat, while your own agricultural land is used for industrial monoculture plantations growing export crops you can't eat like cocoa and cashew.
Imperialism is why your kid goes to school wearing a neck tie, a wool sweater, a thick blazer and cotton socks while the temperature outside is 33⁰C.
Imperialism is why you put on your TV news and the presenter is chewing her tongue desperately trying and failing to mimic the accent of a public school headteacher from Abingdon-on-Thames, whereas literally nobody in the history of her watching audience has ever sounded like that.
Imperialism is why your central bank interest rate is always double digit, which means that consumer credit is literally nonexistent. No amount of roundtable sessions, seminars, and breakfast meetings with the bankers committee and PhD economists can change that basic eternal reality of your economy.
Imperialism is why despite having double digit central bank lending rates, your currency somehow manages to always face inflationary pressure and regularly posts double digit percentage losses in a single day. You can do all the clever economic chart drawings and financial engineering you want, but they are completely useless in the face of imperialist decisions like Structural Adjustment Programs, which you experienced by other names from 1986 to 1988 and from 2023 to 2025.
Imperialism is why you can have all your lovely ideas for leadership and governance, and a young population that is hungry for good leadership, but everytime you go into a "democratic election", you end up coming out with Muhammadu Buhari and Bola Tinubu. You can read all your "Why Nations Fail" and do all your "PVC sensitisation drives" and do all the "protect the votes" on election day, and at the end of all the wahala, the INEC chairman will announce that a crippled goat with craw-craw has won the election and if you don't like it you will go and meet Kekere-Ekun in court.
Imperialism is why when you are having sex with your partner, you moan in English and make American noises even though you've never left Owerri before, and your sexual encounters always happen with a specific sequence that starts from oral and culminates in doggy - it's because all the porn you have ever watched in your life has been hosted and curated by American platforms, and you have over time taken on their sexual personality as your own.
Imperialism is why you build with cement blocks plastered with concrete in your 34⁰C climate, even though concrete generates vast amounts of heat as it cures, and it can take years to fully cure, during which time it slowly cooks you in your own house - but rammed earth which your ancestors used is only just becoming a thing once again because white people have "discovered" it and put a brand on it that makes it desirable after they once labelled it as 'primitive'.
I could go on and on. As long as you're determined to avoid confronting the ubiquitous and all-pervasive reality of imperialism in Nigeria, you're not really ready to confront whatever problem you are facing, from food to healthcare to education to public policy to poverty.
If you're not acknowledging that underlying reality, you're just another Nigerian wasting their whole life performing the appearance of thinking, and creating useless content.

It hurts me, but I will wait.
I will wait until after the elections before we have this conversation again.
I don't want to deflate the zest of our young people.
Because this democracy that neither guarantees free and fair elections, nor one's safety after speaking their mind publicly, will not likely not respond to the 'power' of our inky fingers pressed to a paper, next to a logo.
It hurts me that every inevitable failure is equal to 4 more years of one's life wasted. It's okay to waste 4 years when you're young.
But some people don't have many more 4 years to waste.
But let's go on to the polls.
We will vote and protect it.
Maybe Democracy will finally work — for the first time.
For us.
Because our case is different.

🇳🇬 🇹🇷 | Just In
The Nigerian Air Force has just announced the acquisition of 12x TUSAŞ Aksungur UCAVs from Turkey.
With a 24m wingspan, a payload capacity exceeding 750 kg and endurance of up to 50 hours, this huge drone can conduct day and night surveillance, gather intelligence and carry out precision strikes with guided munitions.
Nigeria will join operators including Turkey, Kyrgyzstan and, here in Africa, Chad, Angola and Niger.
Most of the people who do not understand the greatness Nigeria is capable of are like those guys in Plato's allegory of the cave who refused to believe that the sky existed....
Simply because they'd lived in the cave all their lives and have no frame of reference.
They are more naive than malicious, and many will become fervent believers when you give them hope.
So I don't let their foolishness bother me anymore.
But...
The ones I hate are the ones who understand how the world works, and what Nigeria could be, yet undermine it.
Those are our enemies and they deserve thick hemp necklaces and complimentary hands-free jumping lessons.
Replying to @R_eq_uin
This is sickening, they have been Propagandized for decades they now think they don't matter to the US? A flat mate even told me that "Nigeria doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things" and that what will a super power like the US want to do with Nigeria, and we heard all here during Dachomo calling for Trump to invade Nigeria, when we were telling them that the US is only after our resources and that they created the terrorism so they could come in and extract our resources, we saw many blockhead telling us here that "The US is the highest producer of Oil on Earth" and they have all minerals in the world,
We just can't go anywhere with these dead weight,we sieze power by any means possible, we forcefully make their lives better even if they want to destroy their lives and ours at the same time...

Politicians come and go, but the same problems survive because people focus on personalities instead of the structures reproducing those problems.

Warmonger Marco Rubio is so desperate for regime change in Cuba that he is publicly asking Cubans to help the CIA organize a coup attempt.
The US empire used to organize its many coups in secret. Now it puts job postings for treasonous CIA coup-plotters on Twitter.

Good to see the State Dept lifting the mask of diplomacy and exposing itself as cover for malign CIA destabilization ops aimed at installing puppet governments

They'll say this shit right out in the open and then you'll STILL get called a crazy conspiracy theorist if you say the CIA is behind the next wave of anti-government unrest in Cuba.

The US Empire, which usually organises its many coups secretly in the Global South, will openly say on Twitter that Cuba is next on its regime-change list, and it is looking for Cubans willing to commit treason against their country. But when you say Africa is filled with puppet regimes, some brainless Africans will call you a crazy conspiracy theorist.
This is the CIA openly calling for Cuban citizens to become agents and commit treason.
Yet when you suggest to Nigerians that this same CIA has an enormous interest in Nigeria, the most populous African country and a potential global superpower, they foam at the mouth.
