I recently read a Medscape article recommending ways physicians can respond to patients influenced by "misinformation," including storytelling and a technique called "pre-bunking." As a psychologist, here's my concern: are these tools helping patients make an informed decision, or steering them toward a decision that's already been made for them? Listening requires being willing to reconsider your own assumptions. That responsibility belongs to the physician, too. You have every right to question your doctor. Ask about the evidence. Ask about the risks. Ask about alternatives. Those questions deserve a thoughtful answer. Your medical autonomy matters. Trust has to be earned. I break this down in one of my latest articles on Substack. drmcfillin.substack.com/p/qu…? r=2etzxz&utm_medium=ios

CHOP’s “Close Your Eyes, We’ll Immunize” program offers shots while children are under anesthesia. The hospital says families must agree. It also acknowledges that time for detailed discussions can be limited. Parents deserve clear information, time to ask questions, and the freedom to decline. Read the documents. Make sure your choices are understood and documented. Share this with a parent who needs to know.

A fragile population is profitable population and a governable one. We have raised generations inside a machine that manufactures fragility and sells pharmaceutical enslavement as the cure. AWAKEN

The top Psychiatric prescriber in Illinois is a clinical nurse specialist. In a single year she prescribed psychiatric drugs to nearly 4,000 Medicaid-enrolled children across every drug class. It means evaluating, diagnosing, and prescribing to more than 15 children every working day. There is no model of genuine clinical care that supports that volume. There is no reason to believe Illinois is unique. It is simply the state where someone looked.

How much of your life is spent protecting who you think you are? I began letting go of the distractions that kept my ego fed and my attention occupied. In the silence, I started to recognize how attached I was to an identity, and how much it limited me. @TracyAThurman and I discuss what changed when I began listening more closely to what my soul came here to do. Sovereignty doesn't mean going it alone. There's a difference between being free to make our own choices and believing we have to do everything ourselves. If we're serious about building a life outside the systems we no longer wish to depend on, we need each other. That's the beauty of voluntarism. Sovereign individuals choosing to cooperate, build communities, and create alternatives without coercion or surrendering their freedom to walk away. What does that look like in practice? The psychiatric industry measures improvement in depression by how much less you feel. Can't cry at your mother's funeral? Success! Don't feel devastated when your child is hurting? Treatment is working! Unable to empathize with your spouse's pain? Congratulations, your depression is in remission! They've redefined mental health as emotional lobotomy and convinced us to celebrate our numbness as recovery.

What happens when we see the headlines, but never the human cost of war? @DrMcFillin and I connect the psychology experiments we discussed to how distance, obedience, and dehumanization can make suffering like this easier to overlook. In Milgram’s obedience experiment, 65% of participants followed orders all the way to the maximum 450-volt shock, which they believed they were administering to another person. But in a variation where two fellow participants refused to continue, 90% resisted. So they had to observe someone else non complying. Resisting to engage in that atrocity. Then the noncompliance skyrocketed to 90%. All you had to do was observe someone else say, no, I am not going to do that. And now it provided permission for others to resist it.

My conclusions after years of studying SSRI's: 1. The evidence shows SSRIs work primarily through expectancy effects (placebo response), while carrying significant risks of harm. The harms ARE significant & people are NOT informed of the risks. 2. Major studies used to justify SSRI prescribing have been exposed as fraudulent or fundamentally flawed. 3. Long-term outcomes are dramatically worse for medicated vs unmedicated patients. 4. The chemical imbalance theory has its roots in intelligence operations 5. Normal human emotions have been pathologized to expand the market for these drugs. 6. . The evidence reveals SSRIs as a failed paradigm causing significant societal harm. The foundation of evidence supporting their use has been exposed as corrupted, while long-term data shows they may create the chronicity they purport to treat. There is an urgent need to reform mental health care away from this drug-centered approach and return to supporting human resilience and natural recovery.

I’ve spent years questioning the mental health industry. Now I’ve put it in writing. My new book, The Awakening They Cannot Medicate, challenges how we think about mental health, suffering, and our capacity to heal — and explores what gets lost when we reduce a human life to a diagnosis.
