2026 marks a crucial year for global environmental governance, with the three Rio Convention conferences taking place in close succession. Recognising wetlands as an important part of integrated biodiversity, climate and water action will be key to translating global commitments into meaningful action. #COP17Armenia

The Secretary General will be attending #COP17Armenia. Decisions taken in Yerevan will not stand in isolation. They will form part of a continuous chain of action linking nature, land, climate, and water agendas. Wetlands are at the heart of this connection.
As the world undertakes the first global review of collective progress on implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, wetlands play a critical role in achieving its goals and targets.
#COP17Armenia is being held in Yerevan from October 19 to October 30, 2026.
