Somebody’ll stick a Jamaican man up ya ass if you not careful!
I wanted to guess Jamaican-something but then I remembered I went to school with a Jamaican-Bulgarian and a Jamaican Norwegian, AND Jamaican enclaves in Costa Rica, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya AND that one lady who's now a Jamaican hijabi in Yemen so anything is possible w that lot

i’ve done a lot of work to divorce myself from a dollar, tbh. no reason for me to assessing my self worth through money. money comes and goes.

I'm genuinely struggling to believe that no one has ever mentioned a Sunday dinner in a Black American family. Like, this is such an outlier.
Nah you’re the reason why people don’t like Americans. I’m basically married into a black American family and not ONCE have I heard about no Sunday dinner. Now imagine someone that isn’t around Americans, has never been to America or even met an American, they aren’t gonna know so will need to ask omg ! Also never heard of that movie lmao

Also marrying into a family does NOT equally proximity or access to the culture. I say this as someone with both American and non-American Black lineage.

i like this alot as a theatrical performance.
Of course it’s that deep. Chicago artist earthsignchels @earthsignchels brings her singular voice and unfiltered energy with a performance of her brand new song ‘Daddy Died’. Watch the full show: colors.lnk.to/earthsignchels

this is very much slam poetry, which i LOVE.

I also think that people are too quick to dismiss certain things as "envy", tbh. Some things really are just objective call outs. Folks don't always covet what you have. Everyone is not hiding under a thin veil of envy.

i, too, forgot that he took his shit off every streaming service except Tidal because i actually had Tidal for the longest time and kept listening. matter of fact, i remember bumping 4:44 with @ScarletEstelle literally a week after it dropped. i did not miss a beat with Jay.
I completely forgot he took his music off streaming and you’re 1000000% correct the decision did impact Gen z’s ability to connect with him outside of Beyoncé’s music

i actually still don't mind tidal! it's a good streaming service, tbh.

so many people would benefit from making friends who come from different backgrounds, particularly class backgrounds. a lot of naiveté, if not all, would be alleviated if people simply walked out of their bubbles at earlier ages.

Damn, y’all lack survival instincts. What did you think was going to happen, lmao.
i’m at the mall and a woman stopped walking right in front of me so as i passed her i said “first day on earth?” and SHE FOLLOWED ME INTO A STORE TO CONFRONT ME

As a 32 year old, hanging out with friends in their early-mid 40’s is funny because even though all y’all grown, you still be lookin like this at the bar with them 😭

that young millennial/older millennial divide is always fun to tease each other about, lmao.

As a big a Hov fan as I am, he definitely had two different eras as time went on. I could understand younger Gen Z not paying Jay much mind solely off the fact that his content and output speed thereof when they grew up was completely different. They really didn’t grow up w/ Jay.
I might be showing my age but it’s blowing my mind that people don’t think Jay Z music is good lol

Jay stopped being as ubiquitous say… in the early 2010’s? And his content definitely continued to resonate with the generation that grew up with him because we and the content also grew WITH him.

ALSO, I’m an East Coaster. We tend to be biased towards Jay, I won’t dance around that.

Even as a child, I just ran my ass to the toilet… why would I throw up in anything accept a toilet? Also, how often are you throwing up that you need a separate designated receptacle for vomit?
So uh what do plastic free households use for a puke bowl because my giant glass and ceramic mixing bowls are not it

If you’re not deaf, they do indeed rhyme.
I’m at a fast food place where Mambo #5 was just playing and it’s the first time I realized not a single couplet in the chorus actually rhymes.

Damn, the cinematography hits in this scene. Idk why I appreciated the camera moving from the train and following him like that as he walked away from the staircase he just ascended. That was good.
every time i watch the exorcist i get to this scene and i'm like yeah man that is some of my favorite looking 40 seconds of film ever

Chile, that shit have you skipping meals if you not careful. Friendship breaks up and the worst. Unfathomable heartbreak.
Friendship breakups are actually the worst of them all though.
