A new study in JAMA Network Open estimates that 3 in 4 former NFL players who died between 2008 and 2023 had CTE. Boston University & Mass General Brigham call it the first comprehensive look at CTE among players who have passed. I played 20 seasons and took more hits than I can count. I love this game, and that's exactly why I can't ignore this. Tyler Sash won a Super Bowl as a Giants rookie before concussions cut his career short. He was gone at 27, and doctors later found CTE in his brain and one of the reason why we made @ConcussedFilm It just passed its 3rd year on streaming platforms so I encourage you to watch it, and share it with somebody with parents, players or coaches.

Today marks one year since the release of Concussed: The American Dream — a powerful film that gave voice to a story far too many families know too well. A story that still needs to be told. And as we look ahead to September 8th, we’ll mark 10 years since Tyler Sash left us. Hard to believe it’s been a decade. Tyler was a champion on the field — a Super Bowl winner, a Hawkeye legend — but more importantly, he was a good man, a beloved son, brother, and a friend to many. The impact of CTE and the long-term effects of head trauma are real. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it. And I’ve watched too many young lives cut short because we didn’t have the information, support, or awareness we needed at the time. This film isn’t just about Tyler. It’s about every player who’s laced up the cleats and paid a price far beyond the game. It’s about asking hard questions, honoring truth, and fighting for change. If you haven’t seen Concussed, I encourage you to watch it. And if you knew Tyler — or even just knew of him — take a moment to remember him as we approach that 10-year mark.
