Screw it, I’m going to write the MG novel about a kid who steals dogs from abusive owners. And the message will be it’s ok to do illegal things when what’s legal isn’t the same as what’s moral

Public and school libraries are prohibited from banning books in New Jersey after Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law that also enshrines protections against civil and criminal charges for librarians who comply with the law. apnews.com/article/new-jerse…

i feel like you shouldn't be able to market your movie as a rom-com if the couple doesn't end up together at the end. like it actually should be against the law.

The consequences of this election will be very severe, perhaps unimaginably so. That said, many are vastly *overinterpreting* the causes that produced this outcome. They are then using these over-interpreted "conclusions" to argue for the sacrifice of core values. Reject this.

I've been repeating this to myself all morning trying my best to stay on this planet: existence is resistance. If you're a targeted group and all you can do the next four years is stay alive, I'm so so proud of you. I love you so much. Your life is worth everything to me.

If HORTON was about Japanese people, it was a racist caricature in itself. Dr Seuss never apologized for his genocidal rhetoric. He maintained that it was necessary at the time.

Pretty sure we call it "male loneliness epidemic" because "natural consequences of misogyny" makes us look bad.

There are no words powerful enough to capture the agony of human beings being massacred & burned alive. The U.S. is funding & arming the Israeli military’s extermination of the Palestinian people. It’s unconscionable. End this genocide. There must be an #ArmsEmbargoNow
To the world who turned a cold shoulder, Gazan people burned alive in their tents tonight.

Tens of thousands of people are again under siege in north Gaza. Hundreds have been killed in the last week. Food is scarce, and UN aid convoys are denied access by the Israeli military. We must end our complicity in Netanyahu’s all out war against the Palestinian people.
A U.N.-led convoy trying to evacuate patients from northern Gaza was forced to delay its mission for a third day Friday amid heavy fighting, the United Nations said, as Israeli forces left neighborhoods in the area under siege. wapo.st/3zYzwtQ

I'm with you. Many library banned book celebrations just encourage reading and don't provide further discourse. We like to offer lectures, author talks, bring lawyers in, or host a writing workshop. Just reading is a nice first step, but gives "thoughts and prayers" vibes.
