Patriots come up short in Chicago @985TheSportsHub 985thesportshub.com/2026/10/…

Coming into Thursday night the Patriots were averaging needing an even 6.0 yards to go on 3rd downs this year - the third-shortest in the NFL. That number jumped to 7.57 yards to go per 3rd down against the Bears. They finished the game 2-of-7 on 3rd downs.

The Patriots held the Bears to 4-of-12 on 3rd downs tonight, but those 3rd down conversions included... -3rd & 17 screen TD late in the second quarter -3rd & 11 in the fourth quarter -3rd & 9 in the fourth quarter after a penalty backed up a 3rd & 1 Backbreakers.

Drake Maye on the Patriots adjusting to the Bears' blitz: "First of all, get in third and more manageable."

Drake Maye asked if he feels like this is a game the Patriots "should have won" "I think it's hard to say. Shoulda, woulda, coulda. I'm proud of the guys for the effort. I think we did some good things, we've got a lot of stuff to clean up."

Mike Vrabel asked about the Will Campbell false start penalty late in the game: "I don't know. I'm not in very good favor with the officiating department, so I probably shouldn't say anything."

Mike Vrabel confirms the coaches told Cory Durden to jump offsides late in the game.

Mike Vrabel on Drake Maye tonight: "He gave us a chance. He competed. I know he'd like to have that throw back to Eli [Raridon]...he'll learn from it like he always does. I'm glad he's ours."

Tonight was the Patriots' first game not forcing a turnover on defense since the season opener.
