Lawyer Demands Immediate Release of Rilwan Olawale, Allegedly Arrested and Tortured Over WhatsApp Messages to Lagos INEC REC
Nigerian lawyer Festus Ogun has demanded the immediate release of Rilwan Olawale, who he alleges was arrested and tortured by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS), also known as the DSS, following WhatsApp messages sent to Lagos State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami.
Ogun claims Olawale has been detained since October 25, 2026, for allegedly sending critical messages to the electoral official, insisting that demanding free and fair elections is not a crime.
He has called for Olawale’s immediate release, an apology and substantial compensation, warning that legal action could follow over the alleged violation of his fundamental rights.

“I believe that APC’s political strategy is hopelessness. Tinubu’s victory depends largely on our hopelessness. I figured this out recently. In some of these street interviews, people say President Tinubu has already won the 2027 election. These are political propaganda designed to manufacture hopelessness.”
— Nigerian lady insists.
She further argues that a narrative is being pushed to make people believe the outcome of the 2027 election has already been determined before the election even takes place. She notes that even some people who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) are already commenting online that “Tinubu has already won.”

AI can write your emails, help with your work, plan your vacation, and even give relationship advice.
But I have a question.
If you found out your partner was using ChatGPT to respond to your serious relationship conversations, would you consider that smart or disrespectful? 😂

These loan apps in Nigeria are modern-day slavery. Who benefits from the scheme and why is the Government watching it happen?
People borrow in desperation and face interest rates of 300% or more. Unable to repay, they borrow from another app to settle the first, then another, and another. That’s how the debt trap is built.
When they can’t pay, the apps call their family, friends, bosses, and random contacts. They shame, threaten, and destroy their peace. People sink into depression because of this.
This happens due to weak regulation and poor enforcement. Enough is enough. The Federal Government and relevant agencies must regulate these apps, cap interest rates, ban contact harassment, and shut down the predatory ones.
