Funny how social media used to be about sharing life, and now it feels like its only real value is honouring the end of it. The tributes and the obituaries are the only genuine things left on here.

Had my boiler serviced today by a man called Brian. Well, what I thought was a man called Brian, because I’ve used him for years. Today he finally corrected me: “It’s Alan.”

Did this stop me calling him Brian about four more times afterwards? Absolutely not. “It’s Alan.” “Alan…” “Alan!” “Alan.” As he was leaving, I shouted, “See ya, Alan! Al! Alan! Alan!”

Then I realised I was basically recreating that meme in real life. Thank goodness Alan saw the funny side.

Bit sick of seeing everyone with facelifts now. At this point, I’m beginning to feel like ageing naturally is the rebellious choice and I’m the only one left with an original face.

I can’t believe I’m only hearing about James Woods’ 9/11 story 25 years later. How did I somehow miss this for an entire quarter of a century?

Back from watching Brand New Day. THE COOLEST Spider-Man film I’ve ever seen. I cried. Not a dignified little tear either — full-on, uncontrollable tears. But you’ll never guess what moment broke me…

It was the ninja scene. I have this thing with adrenaline - it flows so much that it makes me cry. I fucking loved it.

Now I know how my mate feels when he cries at the opening credits of Star Wars.

Back on Avengers: Endgame, desperately hoping all these beautiful superheroes come back together again. I have a knack for watching films about eight years after everyone else has already discussed, spoiled and emotionally recovered from them.

Took me four hours to watch this because I apparently can’t let a fight scene or emotional moment happen just once. I kept rewinding like I was doing forensic analysis.

Iron Man’s light going out got replayed an embarrassing number of times. Mostly because I was in denial and kept hoping it would change.

Really enjoyed Avengers: Infinity War. I’d have absolutely cried if I’d genuinely believed they’d killed those characters off. Imagine sitting there in stunned silence as the credits rolled, wondering what the hell Marvel had just done.

I watched about half an hour of Avengers: Endgame before I had to go to bed. Got as far as Thor looking like melted ice cream and thought, yep, saving this until later.

Am watching the Spider-Man films in order so my next one is Avengers: Infinity War. Avoiding Googling anything about it. Not even an innocent-looking search.

Been watching MCU films starting where Spider-Man is introduced. Chadwick Boseman is also in it and it makes me feel really sad knowing he was diagnosed in the same year.

Trying to watch the films in order to catch-up before we see the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Hopefully everyone and Aunt May will have seen it by then and the cinema will be empty.

5:27am. Middle of August and I’m still setting an alarm so I can get up before the heat does, fling the windows open and let the cool air in. I’ve reached the stage where autumn can turn up whenever it likes. I’ll even meet it at the door.

I always hear seagulls flying overhead at this time, which I find deeply suspicious considering we’re nowhere near the sea or even a river. Maybe there’s a very well-hidden chippy around here.

Erling enjoying the memes is the equivalent of feeding a stray cat. They’ll never stop coming now.
